Anyone want to recommend a good KTM dealer in the NOVA area? By good, I mean decent (friendly, knowledgeable and not looking to retire off a single sale) sales staff, reasonable prices and mechanics that know what they're doing and if they don't, aren't afraid to get the correct answer from the factory or elsewhere. Specifically, I'm considering a 950 Adventure for right now.

    Hey Steve,
Don't want to name any names but I can tell you where not to go in Fredericksburg/Stafford. Its exactly what you are not looking for. You keeping the 1150?

Thanks for the insight. Actually, after a couple of experiences there is why I'm posting the question here. It seems as though it might be a great bike, but I'm not interested enough to make an "adventure" out of the purchase/ownership experience.

Oh yeah, I'm keeping the 1150! I just thought I'd add something different to the garage. Plus after so many positive things said and written about the 950Adventure, I thought I should give it a try.

I have noticed alot of used 950's forsale with low miles. Are you going to buy new or buy used and find a dealer for service and such. Not sure where the next closest KTM dealer is to Stafford. Somewhere in Maryland I think. Good luck with whatever you do. When I get my 1200Adventure we'll have to hit some fire trails near the moutains.(or take a ride to Colorado!!):evil

    See ya,

So you're going for the new 1200. I butt tested the one at the show last week. Damn nice machine. The negative I could tell from the brief encounter, was that it may be a little taller than our 1150's. Tempting, but way expensive.

As to the KTM, I have noticed the used machines you mentioned and they seemed to be priced fairly. However, if there's no support readily available for parts or technical assistance, then it would be hard to justify th effort. I'm probably spoiled from too much BMW exposure.

But, I've noticed a lack of response to the question. Can I assume that the business entity I outlined in the initial question, doesn't exist in this immediate area?

Kevin we can go for a ride anytime, even on 1150's:clap

I can recommend Mike in sales at FMS. I got a rediculous price on a 2006 KTM 560 SMR I have on order. Mike's a good guy.

    YMMV,

It's exactly a 525 SMR, with (I believe) a crank and cylinder that bump the displacement. I pulled 05/06 specs, IDENTICAL.

Good on ya Barry! That bike is awesome but be careful it likes to do things and go places that law enforcement folks don't like...:rofl

We should be able to get parts (for sure brake pads and tires!!) for you at the shop in Charlottesville. The shop is happening with a Grand Opening sometime in early spring.

More details on the shop, opening date, etc... will be posted here and in Vendor Forum when possible.

Now we need to get folks together and have some supermoto races.:evil

Also- come on down to Dan's Farm on Jan 29th. We are doing a low key hare scrambles race. Timmy has set up a couple of good 7-8 mile loops. And you can get your riding pants back from Anton!

And the KTM shop will have folks who are familiar with products from the Orange factory (and ride them) and know which end of the wrench to pick up.
As SST says - stay tuned.
(But honey, if I sell my GS and DRZ I can almost afford that nice 990 and then I'll only need one bike...)

They will be sharing space with the Vespa dealer on Preston Avenue (an old Buick dealership). They are still in the formative stages so don't stop by just yet expecting to see much.

Good deal - I'll look forward to them opening up. :clap

I went and looked at the V-Strom over at Valley Cycle in H'burg on Sat. - good price, anyone have anything good/bad to say about the dealer?

    Take care,
