So, Neduro, are the tanks ready yet?

Tank Progress: I'm getting tired of saying this, but we're close.

The first prototype revealed a few minor issues that needed to be corrected, among them, more clearance for the wheel and chain, more space for the various luggage systems that are around, and a desire to strengthen the tank by making it more curved. We view that as a success, that's why we had it made.

I decided that we made enough changes to the tank that I needed to get another model made, so I did that, and here it is fitted to both a 950 adventure and a Superenduro:

At this point, all the fitment issues are ironed out. We're finalizing a few issues with the model relating to production concerns, then it goes out for final bid, then the roughly 6 week clock starts. Because all that is beyond my control, I can't make a final promise for exact availability, although I'm willing to bet that I'm more impatient than any of you. :deal

The tank is 2.6 gallons external volume, which should translate to a bit over 2 gallons useable capacity (wall thickness taking up most of the balance). It will work on all 950 and 990 adventures, and all 950 Superenduros. It has been tested to work with the KTM luggage, it should work with caribou cases and other aftermarket luggage, perhaps with minor modification to the racks (not to the tank, we hope :-).

The only luggage I'm currently aware of that it will not be compatible with are Jesse Bags, because they curve under the rear number plate and therefore take the same space as the tank- not an easy issue to resolve.

As soon as the tank clock is ticking, I'll turn my attention to the mounting brackets. I'm aware that I need to have an option available for superenduro owners that didn't get passenger pegs- some have them, some not, so it will be an optional piece available at added cost, but a fraction of the $250 that KTM gets for the pegs.

Hope that answers any questions, I'll post an update once the clock has started!

The Remus 2 into 1 on the 990 absolutely rocks! The bike is lighter, sounds better and performs great. Much less heat to deal with than before, my butt isn't cooking anymore-it's still hot, but not near as hot as it used to be. I can now ride in upper eighty degree weather without leaving a wet print on the seat :lol3

Here's a couple of pics of the tank model on the 990 with the Caribou case racks (sorry about the clutter in the background):

Just shoot me. For what was meant as a "oh, that would be cool, I ought to do that project", this has closely resembled actual work.

Our first vendor promised 4-6 weeks turnaround. I paid them for the SE order on Feb 20. We received a partial order the second week of June (those have obviously shipped and we've had great comments back about the product).

They had started work on the adventure part, Wings has the prototype above, but after that performance I obviously wasn't real interested in doing business with them. So, we spent May finding an alternate vendor, and I should have a new ADV prototype (out of stainless this time!) in my hands in the next couple of days. Assuming that it's good, they promise to turn it around quickly, and so far, unlike the original vendor, they have been true to their word.

Everyone that has preordered has been getting updates as we have information. For everyone else, I'll post here when we are sure as to the date, which we currently project as the last week in July.

Oh, and good news on the tank- the computer model is done!

So, we're marching steadily forward, just a lot slower than I wish... :deal

Ned, until your tank is ready, I've had Smithy 1 gut out my old left stock exhaust and make it into a tank. Check it out:

It's only gonna hold about 1.4 gallons, but that will get the range up from 110 miles to about 170.

What will be the capacity of your tank?

Well, I hate to hijack, and will probably buy Ned's tank when it's available, but here is the "kit" that Smithy 1 and I came up with:

    And the filler end:

The tolerances are close, like all things on the SE, but I think it will work:

Am a little concerned about the chain when I'm in whoops hitting the fuel line. Will have to check that out in the field! Maybe without gas in the line!

This might be a great option for thoes of us with Jasse bags. Could also split the can in half long ways, and add some filler to turn it into a V shape for holding more fuel. Now if I could only weld stainless.

Stainless is about the easiest thing to weld.

Any word on the 2 into 1 for the Adventure? Was originally stated 7/28.

I talked to Black Dog today, he gave me a 50/50 chance of them shipping on Friday, if not then early next week. I believe that they are in and is being run for a few days to make sure no problems come up.

Edit: On further reflection, I am not sure if he meant that they would be arriving from the factory then, or shipping to customers. I will call and clarify later today.

Mutt2Jeff has the story right- I'm getting part of the production run today to test fit, once we've done that they will be sent ASAP. Believe me, we're more frustrated with the delay than anyone!
