    hi all,

been registered & reading for a couple of years now & normally can find every answer but..

i have a 07 990S UK model which i could do with dropping the suspension a couple of inches.. there appears to be a lot seat heights on various years - getting lower as the bikes get newer but i cant find any definitive answer on how to lower it properly apart from remove everything & send it to a shop..
i have a shock from an 07 standard model which i was going to fit then either drop the triple clamp down the forks or change the hydrostops & inner tubes.. (i think the standard shock spring length is 10mm shorter than the "s" spring?)

    BUT

now KTM are offering lowering kits with a rear spring coil / front springs / hydrostops / inner tubes for £250. however there are two part numbers:
    60112955133 - Adventure S MY 03-04 -15mm Adventure R MY 05-06/11-12 -20mm
    &
    60112955033 - Adventure MY 05-12 -20mm

any ideas what would be correct for an 07 S model & how much would the drop be? If i fitted the bottom listed kit would that drop the bike by 70mm (+/-3") as a standard bike is about 45mm shorter than an "S" before fitting this kit..??

I had the same problem and managed through the local KTM club forum to trade with a tall guy with a "normal" adv. We swap even the central and side stand.
Now I can manage the beast an feel better. Love it even more.:clap

    Ask around.

Somebody closer might be willing to swap parts with you. Your tall suspension for thier short suspension. I wish I was closer to you, or I would make the offer.

    thanks guys,

i did some googling & found plenty info under WP not KTM. i have a spare standard rear shock so i will fit it first & drop the forks in the clamps to match before i change anything.

If you already have a short shock you are half way there.
You can have a shop change the parts that will make your forks the same stroke length as your shock, or if you are mechanically inclined you can do it yourself without too much difficulty.
The difference between 07S and Standard is 55mm, which is pretty significant. I think you'd be happier with the performance if you did shorten the forks.

    Cheers
