Anyone riding this Saturday?
Don't let another beautiful weekend go to waste!
Helping a friend move on Sat, but will be at the 7/11 Sun morning for the clean up.
im riding this sunday on slab on my 990 with some OC guys. Were meeting near San Juan capistrano and doing South Orange county and into San Diego county.
i miss you guys-I'm not doing the Nov. nooobe ride, but i will do the March full moon madness one where i first met you!
Have fun tonight, I would go but I have a hot date tonight...:eek1
i was thinking the same thing, are the local mtns closed due to fire?
I understand he's a proctologist
Joel, it was good to see you guys at the NR earlier this evening!
Waiting for my new stove to be delivered...
Hi Pablo, good to hear from you. I see you're doing the Peach Ride...wish I can so I can ride the GS (I already accepted, it's a street bike). You have more luck riding the 990 on dirt
Scorp.....I would guess all the trails are still open, except for Pacifico, because of the fallen tree, the gate at Mill Creek is locked, but you can get around it.
Still have a lot of daylight left when I left the house at 4:30PM, got the time to explore Angeles Forest
Colby Creek Canyon
a sign easy to miss
At the Lynx trailhead, cribaby was waiting. He rode from Dana Pt. :eek1
Soon MikeToon came and found a good place to sit
At 6:30PM, we saw the faces of the 2 the Long Beach boys
Russ and Derek came last
After the refreshement break....we got on the night ride
no action shots, i was busy trying to stay alive....hahahahahaha
m1jeep first taste of lynx...and he did well
miketoon survived the uphill ride on lynx too
strangers before the ride, and became compadres right away
our trail leader rob always asking for directions...
bruce warned us about the tree, which turned out to be a 100 year old tree...
i knew about it, but because of the darkness, hidden around the corner, i was going fast and could not see it was front of me. tried to avoid it but instead went over the handlebar.
this photo by miketoon was my 2nd of the 3 attempts...
it's not really difficult to get around, and miketoon proving it
my first thought is rob is going to eat this tree knowing how he is..
and so we waited to warn them
Nice to see you again Dan...next time you're riding with us..
we finally reached newcombs at 9:30PM
m1jeep, rob and terranova
getting there late, the cook already went home, but lucky we got soup
ben and i
warm abondegas perfect for a cold night ride
Nice pix Joel. Where were those first three taken?
Hey....How could've I been the trail leader, I'm a LB boy. Besides following me would be like following the head lemur off the cliff
Here's a few pix from ride today w/ WT:
Start of ride near Lytle Creek:
Off of 4N24
if you come from ac to afh to upper big t and to your right, a mile before lynx, there's a road on the right...colby something. the reverse route on the way home that morning, except it's on your left this time.
ben's bike sporting a brand new gas tank....ready for baja
we had a full moon.........really
we didn't want to stay till 4am, so we rode pacifico down to lynx and back to the trailhead where we started. lynx was tougher coming back, and the darkness, trail unfamiliarity from a different direction and the saharas made it tough for me. dropped the bike on the downslope and could not pick it up. i have to drag the bike so that the rear tire is now on the lower spot, and gathered all my energy before i can get it upright. it took me like 15 minutes in the dark, by myself in the middle of nowhere to get back on the saddle again.
at the end of the ride...i'm just as happy as the rest of the FFs. believe me, this ride is not just for fun and good times, you get to learn how to survive in a strange condition!
News flash, noon Sunday. Tree blocking trail.
looks like a nice little motorcycle entrance to the left!!!
awwwwwwwwwwwww two peas in a pod!
Anyone else in on this ride, the same weekend as the NooB Valley Rallye. We will most likely hook up with these guys along the way, and probably on Saturday. This ride is a balls out, speed (alcohol) induced, 700+mile ride (600 dirt), that will spend two nights at Russel's Camp in Butte Valley. This is a great ride for those doing the Baja Ride in December. We will begin our ride at the 15/138 intersection and only touch asphalt for gas.
If you want to do this ride, speak by Wednesday, or forever hold your peace. We have a great guy (Kenny, non MC rider) who will be driving up earlier in the week and reserving Russell Camp for us. We need to get your alcohol order in place so he can purchase it and haul it up for us in his Jeep.
Right now the list is as follows:
We can take three more if you want a good sleeping space. Any more and you're pitching a tent.
