bwahahaha.....and it is "life is TOO short" for your quote.....
need to get my dad from the airport... visiting from Israel...
looks like I will be out for the next 3 weeks
Looks like you remembered everything but the motorcycle.
I may join you all tomorrow, but don't wait around for me if I'm not there by 8:15.
Hope another rider is ok? Im going to truck up my 450, see you in the morning.
great see you there....
If you see a nOOb on SCD by himself around 10am, please don't startle him or else you have to help me pick up my bike.....
The more the better....if everyone shows we will split into groups of 4...1 member who knows the trails well per group...
We can rally as a big group at:
The start of SCD
The hill before the water Crossing
The top of 4n24 at Mt Gleason
We can ride as a group to the mid cut-off for lynx..
then meet at the begining of Pacifico
Finally at Newcombs
i love to be there but need to get a full night sleep. i should hit scd trailhead before 10am. tough, my cough is not getting better....
mike, let us know who are the nOObs trying to sandbag....
Hey my Saturdays might be freeing up here in a few weeks!!! I might actually be able to meet some of these ffaces I feel like I know already!!!!
Not this weekend though!
Soon, very soon! have fun, be safe!!!!
Just out of curiosity, but at what point do you no longer qualify as a "nOOb"?
I think miles alone disqualify you at this point...despite what others might argue, it's not always about speed.
hahahahaha.......i stop being a nOOb only when in the company of real nOObs!
the group we have here is an exceptional one , they ride 950s far better than i ride my xr400, then there are few guys who ride klr like klx, everyone is good, and loves speed ......
That's what I want to know....... Joel keeps saying I'm not a nOOb, while he continues to hold onto the title for himself
you guys have a good ride and see you at nr....kind of exciting too to meet some fresh faces....
I've been lurking here a bit, while I watched for the right KLR at the right price. Found the bike, now to find the rides.
All of my riding to this point has been street, so I'm hoping for some easy fireroad kind of places to check out, or a group going out and doing something that I won't kill myself on the first time out.
Also, how do I know where I can legally ride? I've hiked a bit on Angeles Crest and saw some easy looking dirt roads/trails/fireroads, that looked like they would be fun to ride, but don't know what is allowed or where.
It's a road
You have a lic plate
There is no road closed sign (they're not for ADV'rs anyway)
That's the way I did things as a kid in other places, but CA is so ... regulated, I thought there was some sort of a "got ya" that would cost me a ticket for waking up the yellow toed tree louse or something.
Any suggestions as to starting points?
Where in SoCal are you from? If you can get to Pasadeana maybe you should do the weekend ride on Saturdays. You also have a Sunday church ride you can do. Welcome to the site its a good one. Trust me these are a bunch of good people on this site. They will not leave stuck out on the trail/road. Ben
Funny, I just moved from Pasadena to Torrance, but will still watch for the weekend rides. Pasadena isn't that far!
I had a very bad day. Nothing went right. I got in soft stuff trying to make a turn...I went over and bruised my knee (new pads being ordered this week.) I fell in the water crossing as I was exiting. I fell again when the hill above the water crossing decided to add insult to injury and then there was the attempt to drive off a cliff.
The guy on the big 950 Adventure (Sito?) picked me up the first time. His advice got me through the next section. Thank you so much.
The next three were with Cathy and Dave (?). I had to take a break and eat a cliff bar. I was beaten. I was given some more lessons and things went much better but I was done. Thank you guys. You're angels.
This group will pick you up and give you a bit of advice too. I could not imagine learning without these guys.
I have a BIG bruise on my entire kneecap. I got really lucky. Yes, knee pads are being ordered this week. No trail until I have them.
Anyway, you guys ROCK!
