+1 on the Pahrump dry lake bed. If that is too far, head out to El Mirage. The cool thing about El Mirage is in addition to the dry lake bed, they have a practice area complete with banked turns, sand, rocks, even log crossings if you are ready for that.

Thank you! And someone elsewhere made the same recommendation. I'll definitely head out there one of these weekends. (And yes, I made sure I could lift it up. :) )

That would be even more excellent!

Not sure if you need an adventure pass if you hang out at rowher too long. For sure if you use the bathroom.

Only if you park your truck there. If you are on your bike, they don't require it.

:thumbup Nice shots Joel, the riding weather that day was perfect and was good seeing some SDAR and ADV peeps merge together for a honorable cause.
Oak Grove is a great place to stage from... Palomar Divide, Anza, Ranchita, Anza Borrego all all close-by. And those hills behind the campground have some great riding opportunities....last years Malcolm Smith No Wimps Ride went through not that far from there.

:hmmmmmWould be a great spot for a combined SDAR-ADV meet-up some day.

Anybody got GPS coordinates for off-road to Pozo Saloon from Pine Mountain or Frazier Park? My GPS died and I didn't down load saved tracks. I want to take a buddy on a three day jaunt from Santa Clarita up through the Carrizo Plain but want to hit trails as soon a possible. Adventure bike friendly route.

haven't found a dirt road from pine mountain or frazier park.

fill up at the shell station in maricopa before you head into carrizo.

have fun and post some pics.

Had a friend who wanted to learn how to dirt bike so I took her to Hungry Valley SRVA, rented a CRF150 and spent the whole day coaching. Basics, hill climbs and descents, soft sand and rut management etc.

learned first hand what happens if you try fighting ruts LOL

Ended up being so captivated by it that she was surfing dual sports on the drive back to LA and found this in for sale in Castaic Lake
