Let's call it Sunday, November 19.
Meet at Astro Burger in Krammer Junction ready to ride at 10am.
If you truck-in, please DO NOT park in Astro Burger lot... park behind and North of Astro Burger (HERE).

We'll probably ride a loop out near the Husky or perhaps North through Cuddieback and to Randsburg for lunch. I'm flexible.

Would love to ride with you again! Bring plenty of patience... this might be pretty slow! I'll PM you about getting up there. Was planning to ride up.

Can’t that weekend, but I’ll be keeping my eyes open for future big bike practice days. I want to get more comfortable on my 690, it’s only been on relatively easy stuff so far (except for a couple of times and I definitely didn’t win any points for style!:lol3)

I am about to pull the bike apart. Forks are headed to SPS for some love. Seals, bushings and revalve. While that is apart I'll dabble with some other parts I've been needing to bring back to shine. Then once the forks are back in place the rear shock will make the trip. I figure that will get me into the holidays/family/travel winter stuff so after the first of the year I should be back on two wheels with more than a half horse power.

I kinda had something like this in mind then from Barstow could take the 58 back to 395 if you trucked in or do it backwards again if ya got lights and the stamina

    Hey Taylor,

I could be down for that! I haven't had the 990 in the dirt since I did the Continental Divide route on it this summer and I need an excuse put on the new rear tire I've had sitting in the garage for a few weeks. If you're taking votes, I vote for Sunday, 11/19 :-)

    Sunday it is!
So glad you chimed-in, it'll be great to have someone along who knows the 990 and how to ride it.

That's easy, just forget it weighs 500lb and ride it like a dirt bike (sorta). Let's find a sand wash and punch your Big Bike Sand Card.

Funny... this practice at El Mirage and beyond ... preferably during the week is what I have been gearing up for... starting after about the first of the year. Riding the desert and mountain trails around Wrightwood is the main reason we moved from Burbank to Wrightwood in 2011. I have a plated DRZ E that I set up for adventure touring, but it went into storage in 2013 while we did construction and I havent ridden it since. Now that all the projects are done, its time to ride... and like the Strat I have sitting in the case since '95 its time to get out and practice. To make that practice less traumatic on the plated E, I bought a green sticker E called the lab rat to use for training. I have all the parts on order to get it up and running including new riding gear that I trashed at socal supermoto school training.

Keep us posted when you are planning to get out on the trial.

    A geezer on a drzer.

We are still ON for Sunday.

All are welcome. I look forward to meeting you.
Just remember, it's a big bike skill building kinda ride... might be slow at times. (and I'll probably be to blame)

Bring tracks and we will figure it out. I know the area, you know the area and so does TwoWheelsGood. We have lot's of options.
I like the idea of leaving Kramer Junction heading North staying to the West of 395. We can pass through the old Air Force Base and continue up to your track at Cuddeback Road.
From there we can decide to continue North to Randsburg for lunch OR head out East onto your track hitting the old airport, old mine and Husky then loop back towards Kramer. Inscription is always a cool place to see if we're making good time.
At least for me, it's probably a little too ambitious to head out towards Barstow. I plan to slab it back home when we're done, so I would like to wrap it up well before dark.

Fun day on Sunday! I was pretty nervous about riding a big bike in the dirt... but the 990 felt perfectly in it's element out there.
I only dropped it once, in the deep sandy whoops leaving the Husky. Fortunately, we were out of sight of the Bikini Team.

Thanks for leading Rich. Great route for getting comfortable with the bike.
FlynnAir, nice work out there. You started the day off the back just a little and ended the day right on our asses!
