    good catch sergio...and you're right.

no one was left in the camp and we all went home.

after the morning ride (that became an adventure ride for me and will tell you later) at around 2 pm the wind blew so hard and it felt like a sandstorm. it wasn't fun and brought home lots of sand.

    pics and ride report next....8)H

Took us Jim, Bill, and 8)H, 2.5 hours from my house to get to JV, the morning drive was pleasant and it was a beautiful morning.

Then we met Brent in front to the organizers big tent, after signing up, showing support and making donations we looked and found dannyG.

danny, brent, 8)H, bill, and jim

there were 4wd rigs too, lots of them
    [IMG]

utv and rock crawlers got along
    [IMG]

there were several exhibitors and sponsors
    [IMG]

btw 540exc rider, the yammie color is still evident..

time to ride and jim will agree that 950adv is a handful in the deep sand..:cry

there are several routes, white for beginners, blue for novice/intermediate, yellow for intermediate/advance, and red for those who dare. we thought blue was a tough intermediate, and took that one....:evil
    [IMG]

the 950 is a big bike for this place, but riceless and spafxr didn't think so
    [IMG]

it was truly a beautiful day, we thought...:D
    [IMG]

as far as you can see...you can ride (before the marines take it over)

rhinoeatr on his new 450EXC, i guess he hasn't read the ktm rider's orange rule book yet....:lol3 [IMG]

We went to get some grub, then noticed the clouds had gone away and the moon was shining brightly!

An idea came to hour heads...

In honor of the ADV LA Full Moon Ride, we did our own but on concrete with Newcomb's as our goal Altho we knew we would not make it before closing time, didn't matter! That was our goal!

We bundled up some more, he switched bikes (125cc Yamaha Vino Scooter) and we headed right back up to Angeles Crest! Moon was so bright we could see everything! We where loving it!

It was raining stars so we eventually pulled over to watch the light show. But as we were starting to turn into popcicles we decided to contine to our goal.

Rolled into Newcomb's around midnight, took some pics and made our way back down.

I'm still trying to thaw my toes. Brrr! Need more/better cold wheater riding gear.

    :D

    I don't know what's more dangerous...

    riding with you guys...

    ...or an open bar.

I'm not hungover....I'm still sort of drunk. Let's hope I still have a job come Monday. :knary

 camp is just behind those hills...this place is amazingly beautiful in a different way......and it's FREE
    [IMG]

    chasing rhinoeatr was fun
    [IMG]

i missed the turned and ended up in the yellow route...no big deal, since i'm getting tired i'll take the novice/intermediate route "i thought", which was WRONG..:lol3

then, i missed another turn, and soon i found myself alone..no more bikes.....:cry , and a red marker on top of the hill and jeep tracks.....:eek1
    [IMG]

saw some 4wheelers but no bikes...:evil
    [IMG]

my ride is starting to look a riceless ride without brent....:rofl
    [IMG]

    so i followed the tracks
    [IMG]

i got so far there's no more turning back....here i tried to go down on a 6 foot drop....and the result......:lol3, and no picture of me hanging over the handle bar:rofl
    [IMG]

i waited for about 15 to 30 minutes for someone to help me and gave up. i have to move all the big rogs in front of the front tire so i can wiggle the bike down to the level ground
    [IMG]

managed to get moving and confronted by this rock wall...yes that's a marked route....:eek1 , i can turn around and go up on that ledge again, but i knew i will hurt myself trying
    [IMG]

i was trapped in a big bowl, rocks all around, then found an easier route :clap
    [IMG]

after about 1 hour of struggle, i eventually made it back to the camp :evil
    [IMG]

brent hanged out with them guys, and didn't leave until i showed up...thanks dude, maybe next time.....:thumb
    [IMG]

rich likewise knows the risk of riding alone as he experienced it at kennedy meadows....

we were hungry and went to the main camp, that barbeque sandwich was gooooooood.... (thanks jim for buying lunch if that will give your conscience less guilt...:1drink )

in spite of the mighty strong wind and sandstorm at the end of the day, i am glad we did this ride. i saw on the faces of the:bow volunteers that they needed and looking for lots of support; they were excited to receive everyone. i hope their efforts will be rewarded....:clap good luck....8)H

Just a reminder to you guys out there riding on Angles Crest. Please be careful today we had a motorcycle rider who was flighted into us who was really messed up lots of broken bones and other trauma, and won't be going home anytime soon (was headed up to ICU when I left to go home) so just a reminder be safe out there so you can go home to your loved ones at the end of your ride.

    Thanks,
    Chickie
