Ok… finally home. I had so much fun that my L shoulder is killing me.:cry
It is possible that the pain is secondary to the fall I had during my warm-up.. or riding the rest of the day did not help it to.
No more riding till WMRS.

Ok only to test the G650X when I’ll finely get it…:lol3

First of all, I thank everyone for showing up and sharing another fun ride. Riders as far as Orange County and Ventura were there and truly proud of you. A lot of new and friendly faces, both noobs and advanced riders.

The ride started on time, for most, StuCazzo and I got lost and didn't get to the camp until past 9am. I apologize to everyone for waiting and missing the breakfast that I promised.

The weather was nice all the time mid 80s during the day and in the 60s in the evening. The camp we chose was Circle Canyon, isolated from the rest and on the hill side with a nice view and lots of shade. The guys did a good job picking up the best spot in the camp.

View of the camp from the road at an elevation of 3, 900 ft.

Still have to upload the rest of the pics, and will post them with the report.

Another good weekend for the local ADV community.

John, on the way up that same canyon yesterday, that rock that you tried to crack with your back told me to tell you, sorry!

Over the top of that intital canyon started the really fun stuff. 22 miles of 12-36" single track, 180 degree switchbacks and nearly vert cliff riding:eek1 , rock gardens, the always fun low hanging branches waiting to off an unsuspecting (and suspecting) rider, and the always fun 18" wide ridge ride with 60 degree drops on both sides. Really not a place for a Dakar, which made it all that much more fun. I hope Joel got some photos of the terrain, because my helmetcam was unknowingly off the whole time:cry

Thanks for letting me come along everyone, and a special thanks to Dunerat, H8chains, DannyG and Bro, and Stucazzo for some excellent food. Dunerat (Noel) brought the best Carne Asada I've ever had and we threw that down with enough Mexican Beers to make a "sweet girl" have sex with everyone in the camp (just not our camp). For those that were there last night, you know what I mean:lol3

Great riding with everyone, let's do it again.

By the way, I'm in for Mex in October.

Nice day of riding on Saturday.
This was without a doubt the best catered ride I've ever attended.... thanks in no small part to Joel. (muffins, sandwich materials, chips, drinks) To top things off, Noel pulled out a huge shrimp cocktail platter and for dessert, Cathy pulled out a nice cheesecake.:D
I had a blast trying to keep up with DuneRat and Bouncing Billy (who was riding on a flat front most of the day:huh) and with Notmybikemodelname and Stu Cazzo on the big bikes never far behind.

I didn't get many pics, here are the few I did take...

Our fearless trail leader was Danny G., it seems he's the only one who knows the area very well.

Not too long after we left the camp, our first run is that big hill on the right and BullsEye is ready to take the hill climb.

:eek1 Shitz, all the noobs at this point are spooked including me.:cry
[IMG]

The first rider was Steve and he did it w/ ease on a 600R :bow .

Next was our trail leader on his CF450X, and ooooops:nono

The unidentified ADV rider summoned Steve to move on, but meantime, StuCazzo and I hiked up, Stu to help and me to take a close up picture :lol3 The hike was so steep that Stu and I have to grab on to the chain link fence on the right to prevent from sliding down the hill.

The rider was hurt and could get back on his bike, shoulder badly bruised which no one knows until we went back to camp for lunch a couple of hours later.

With a little help, and a lot of huffing and puffing, the bike is upright again
[IMG]

After the big hill, we move on into tougher and scarier trails

Hmmm....I think they are talking of taking us noobs to some black diamond single track trails.

These 3 unsuspecting riders didn't know what's up ahead, including myself; sitting behind is notmybikemodelname and making sure they don't go anywhere

Even an intermediate rider StuCazzo soon will also be a victim

Billy and Taylor, they make good babysitters
[IMG]

The trailhead

We're all ADV riders, so we skipped all the easy trails

Danny G coming out of the trail
[IMG]

Followed by StuCazzo
[IMG]

The place was so big, and easy to get lost. Steve was searching all over the place and found us
[IMG]

We regrouped
[IMG]

StuCazzo and BullsEye
[IMG]

Enough chitchat, the ringleaders decided to move forward with the plan :eek1

Going along as planned
[IMG]

Sopascat so far so good :clap
[IMG]

The trail ahead is so easy and the group chose to do the single track on the right
[IMG]

Few of the happy moments that morning
[IMG]

This what awaits us :lol3 and only about 36" wide of loose rocks and ruts. It's a goat trail without goats!

More, and this one is a few inches wider
[IMG]

:eek1 :eek1 :eek1 :eek1 :eek1 I don't know what to say, but I felt my bike was shaking more than it should (the motor was'nt even on).

At this point, we're almost at 5500 ft, camp was at 3800 ft. The nice scenery could not distract the aprehension building up in me :lol3
[IMG]

Enough of picture taking bull shit, need to concentrate on my riding or instant death.

After the ride, lunch on a picnic table was the most welcome event that morning.

More pics tomorrow. Thanks for putting up with my amateur reporting.

Next morning we heard what happened. I'm glad you're ok, and you got the balls to take the GS on those trails. My hat's off to you! :bow

See you on an next time on a jug friendly trail.

Hi, all!

Sucks that I could only be there Sat, but I had a great time! Everybody was great, and I'll be trying to make every ride I possibly can.

As soon as I fix the rear wheel bearings. Tried to ride it today, and they're wasted! Glad they lasted until I got home. You made me commit bike abuse!:eek1
Can't wait to do it some more...

Back to camp for the much needed rest
[IMG]

For lunch we had roastbeef and italian cut sandwiches, pizza, cheese cake, beer, soda, water, gatorade, and more
[IMG]

And my favorite, thanks Dunerat
[IMG]

It was fun hanging out with everyone
[IMG]

Noel, Joel, and Frank
[IMG]

John, Billy, and Taylor
[IMG]

After lunch, everyone was too lazy to ride
[IMG]

It seems Danny G is nursing some pain :lol3
[IMG]

so is Cathy
[IMG]

I just noticed something's written on Rob's shirt :confused , but when he turned his back
[IMG]

now it's :lol3 ...............:doh
[IMG]

Discussing the Sat afternoon ride
[IMG]

This bike is done for the day
[IMG]

I thought Honda XR600R is indestructable :scratch
[IMG]

Finally got everyone to saddle up except for the 2 injured riders :sick and the rider with a broken bike :becca

BullsEye, BouncingBilly, Dunerat and BongoDave (who will be slippin and sliding on those street tires)

Cathy's young son John (in honda red) was coming too, and he did good that afternoon
[IMG]

Again, we're ADV riders and skipped all the easy runs
[IMG]

Log jam at the trailhead
[IMG]

Yahoooo :clap we found another black diamond :eek1
[IMG]

BongoDave was not bothered by the sign even on those street tires :lol3
[IMG]

StuCazzo can handle anything, in spite of a spill earlier in the day
[IMG]

Young John made it through without a scratch, yeah, those black diamonds are just over rated, especially for h8chains

We have to split into 2 groups, notmybikemodelname started to feel last night's binge with Xjon
[IMG]

John and BongoDave thinking of going back to the camp too
[IMG]

And they took off

While the brave and the few hanged on
[IMG]

The Martians have landed
[IMG]

So the five of us completed the loop and caught up with the group minutes later. Boy we were fast!

More pics later!

Everyone settled in after the ride, and these guys look tired
[IMG]

Beer will fix it. Earlier in the morning I saw a Dakar, with a 24pack strapped to the tail rack, just to find out it was Rob! The poor kid on the right, mommy was looking and he haa to drink water instead :lol3 .

Bouncing Billy had a flat on his front tire, but able to ride more, except now he's done! BongoDave helping out!

Tents for the "have nots". Rob's tent at the far side is so close to the next camp that he ended up listening to the "menage a trois" that took place at midnight. Oh Jerry, Oh Jerry, Oh Jerry....what's the other guy's name ?

And the wealthy bastards were home away from home
[IMG]

Another one, and this guy brought 2 bikes.

I felt sorry :(: for those who have to leave Saturday afternoon. The best part of the day still has to happen :nod

Then darkness fell
[IMG]

Dang, someone turned off the lights
[IMG]

I would come just for this, who cares about the ride!

Noel's Carne Asada.........:dg

Next morning, us poor FFs finally got invited inside the motorhome for coffee. Noel also wanted to get a picture of the bed to show his gf that no woman spent the night there!

Sunday morning, we're all ready to ride again

Dunerat will soon regret riding the YZ instead of the XR. He had a flat tire on the front after an hour of riding.

Notmybikenamemodel.....dood your name is way too long, you're wearing out my keyboards.

StuCazzo...my loyal riding partner :pynd
[IMG]

Dunerat after he got a flat has to ride only with the rear wheel! Very impressive or he's just fu#*ing showing off!

Along Pipeline Road
[IMG]

Who said that this place turns into a zoo on Sundays? There wasn't a single rider we saw the whole time!

Lots of challenging hill climb (at least for us)

Acres and acres of dirt and rolling terrain
[IMG]

I realized that I'm not as good as I think...this place put me to work
[IMG]

Another one of me....:clap
[IMG]

More of me....going up a very steep, difficult, slippery, challenging, never-been-climbed hill
[IMG]

StuCazzo did this hill too after he got some inspirations from me...sorry dude, looks like your pics got deleted :lol3

Final installment tonight or tomorrow!

There are single tracks, 24 - 36" wide with mighty tight switchbacks, trails with deep sand, whoops, ruts, rocks, steep hills, this place has it all.

An intermediate rider on a twin will eat it, but like Noel said, lots of work even for an advanced rider! Knowing you Marty, you will be fine!
