This ride is full of uncertainty, but as long we leave our ego at home and ride at 1/4 throttle....we should be fine....:eek1

If ever you see any 640A parts, hang on to them, but the 950 components do well on Ebay!

I ride with my eyes closed half the time anyway:lol3. Seeing the trail all the time is over rated.
I'm just happy that it's not going to be so dam hot! :knary It might even get a little chilly! I think this is going to be fun because something different. I'm not worried because I control the throttle, I can go as fast or as slow as i want:rofl . I am worried because its going to be way past my bed time! I don't think I have been up passed 12:00 in over 2 years! :snore

For those that will be sleeping while these maniacs are bashing around in the dark, I'll be at the usual 7-11 Osborne exit start point at 7 AM to beat the heat if anyone wants to join. 210 fwy, 2 exits west of Sunland Blvd., 1 block north to light, turn left, see 7-11 on left with 1 or more ADV-types hanging out. We can decide plan of attack there. Noob friendly!

    Hey Artboy,

    What are you riding tomorrow?

I need some two wheel therapy to clear my head of everything that has been happening lately.
I might make tomorrows ride, I will know at 7:00 a.m in the morning, just don't know what you had in mind. A single cylinder or two cylinder ride(well for me single cylinder or bigger single cylinder).

I was going to take Thumpy the Z. You want to meet me at my house at 20 'til 7 if your coming? We may have one other taker at the 7-11 at 7. Sounds kinda lucky, don't it? How's the GS project coming?

The weather has been very hot :knary in the past several weeks and riding the same trail all over again become a negative factor to our weekly ride.

So we cooked up :pot with a solution................................................

A Night and Dinner Ride :ricky and found the 18th (yesterday) under a full moon to do the ride.

It didn't take very long for the kids excited again................:wings

    It started all here
    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=358064

The actual ride was 110 miles, maybe 40 miles of asphalt but mostly twisties and canyons; and the rest was pure dirt. From near sea level we rode up to about 6K feet elevation and down....which we did in 9 hours or so (6:30 PM to 3 AM) without dinner (sorry guys....we'll get it right next time).

We had 8 ADV FFs and 4 more friends joined us on this ride, and we lost the 2 X-Challenge riders Oni and DannyG.

Our trusty trail leader Sito, who we almost lost cuz duh' he was at the 7-11 on Osborne....good we got him to meet us at the correct address
    [IMG]

Jim aka Spafxer, a long time riding buddy and rode all the way from Ventura
    [IMG]

Bouncing Billy washed his bike for this ride to make it more visible
    [IMG]

Lear60man....he has the sweetest bike on street tires :lol3
    [IMG]

Jim aka tbarstow, he may be for the record, the first to ride the Lynx on a fully laden behemoth GS1150 on street tires in the dark .......:bow
    [IMG]

Russel,....from the Rowher Flat days in the peak of my noobiness...come on Rus, you need to come out more often...:hide

Jeff, one of the many orange men
    [IMG]

    Kenny, Billy's younger bro

Dario, thanks for sweeping the last part of SCD. Your headlight shining my path helped me survived

The rest of the FFs decided to meet at Upper Big T and Rob up in Newcombs Ranch (good decision Rob :dutch )

More pics and prickin report next.................:fyyff

There was a brush fire on the foothills and the guys looking at it. I hope Tim didn't fill up that GS tank all the way full

    :clap
Always a welcome sight to see new & regular riders sharing the same ride.

We rode with WOT for about 18 miles in the canyon full of curves. We took the back road Big T to avoid the dangerously notorious Angeles Crest.

Big T and AFH was wide open and the road was perfect.

    Getting on AFH
    [IMG]

Spafxer must be thinking....these FFs got it made...canyon and dirt riding all in one....

Upper Big T, and like all disciplined school kids, they waited for me

Here comes our trail leader Sito, too fast for my camera
    [IMG]

The TransAlp and the GS on the terrain where they are kings

At the bottom of the Lynx trailhead and met dunerat and lepermasiah

Sunset and the 540. This was at about 7:30pm. Even w/ the big tank I ran out of gas twice, once at the end of our ride on the dirt section and then on the 210 fwy on the way home! Thanks to all who donated gas. And it turns out that tall seat isn't as comfortable as I thought

I thought of taking more pics but hard to do it on Lynx and clinging on to my dear life.

    Some of the highlights

Tim trying to reinstall his left pannier after he ripped the mount on a gentle drop
    [IMG]

    Again............:eek1
    [IMG]

    and again..........

I admired Tim, cuz if that's another rider....he would have turned around and call it quits.

Tim did the entire Lynx and the last part in the dark. I'm sure this experience will provide him the ability to handle a big pig in a similar situation next time....:clap

Tim still smiling while Spafxer looking sorry seeing the GS.....:lol3
    [IMG]

    The regular FF crew
    [IMG]

The last daylight break, soon darkness will fall while still on Lynx
    [IMG]

I was going down on this curve with slick surface and simply tap my front brake....next thing, it's my turn, as always..............next time I will do Lynx........LEAVE THE SAHARAs AT HOME! Sito....you suck and make a lousy photographer.

I notice that Tim converted his side pannier to a top rack.......:lol3
    [IMG]

Spafxer first time on Lynx is uneventful...or he developed the art of picking the bike up quickly!

The Rothman bike did a digger....

Darkness finall fell.....lepermasiah on his BRP, and unusual to see him wearing a body armor....did he see a vision before the ride

Dunerat did a noble thing...rode as a sweepy for the first time :clap
    [IMG]

One FF didn't wait at the junction and all the riders behind him took the wrong turn......

who ever you are....:deal know the trailtiquette

Poor Kenny, of course the rest of us too were upset
    [IMG]

this is what a night ride looks like
    [IMG]

The 3 week old SE died on the trail..............:lol3 It took us about 30 minutes to get it running and still we didn't know what went wrong........
could it be operator error :deal

Thanks Spafxer, Lear60man, and BouncingBilly for waiting and worrying about us...while the rest of the FFs rode on to Newcombs thinking that they will get dinner.
