the poor guy ended up going home..and we never saw him again...
Don't worry Joel. The last time Scorpion did this ride with the LA Wknd Group, he went home too. Had a problem with his fuel pump. But he was back yesterday. If the guy wants to ride he'll fix his bike and be back. If not he'll stick with the KLR gang next time.
was it the original battery?:huh(from 1991)
good to see the off shoots were open..sito and the big balls went charging
this place was awesome...if you ride slow enough...
chris got stranded at the one of the bypasses and finally showed up
lucky, the damage on the gs was slight and the only one on this ride.
in the shade waiting for the last rider
unusual to see a klr roosting and with this much dust...:eek1
it kills me to see a trail that i barely survived has a green circle...
end of cleghorn...and no one got hurt..
stewstew making the klr salute...
hey dave when the doc fixes your ankle, have him add 4 inches to your legs...
We're all better off because of it.

The less Harley riders on the road, the better.
Sorry, no pic's of the GS taking a nap with its face in stuck in a drop-off when a drop off a big bolder didn't go as planned. It was too hot and by the time Sito helped me get her upright, we just wanted to get moving.
Gotta love friends when they help ya get your heavy weight DS upright w/o more damage than need be. Love her dearly, but man!, I wish she would go on a diet!
Great pics Joel. keep em coming!
Joel, do you know Sito quite a bit better than the rest of us?
and have you been reading your camera manual lately?
Don't rule out rear brake seizure.
Great pictures and nice report so far Joel. Keep it coming. It's helping me procrastinate.
And now for the pic you've all been waiting for......
sand, it's always the sand :eek1
I am not part of the Harley bashing group....
After all, how many KTM's, Husky's, or KLR's come with this accessory ??
Seems like many Harley's do !

Riding sand on slicks is usually a bad idea. Where is that? I don't remember sand on Cleghorn.
What's the deal with KLR's and flat batteries on rides?
jumped on the pavement, the next trail us just a short hop away; the clouds tell me there won't be any rain....
looking down at the lake where some girls were sunbathing topless...:eek1 sorry no pics..against posting rules...
perhaps randy captured it on his vidcam
from the trail one can walk down to this cove
a little section of silverwood lake
too early to have a bad day...

the world famous nOOb....
roger's blue ktm 990 died on the trail and here it's alive again... not sure what happened?????
even at a higher elevation, a shade is always nice
regrouped, minor bike adjustment, and did a head count.. ; hey jim how are the MEFO treating you????
and a worn tire...............
good to hear you didn't get hurt cathy... always nice to have a big man around to help pick up the bike, including rider if needed. good job bob..
I'm not either. I was just teasing. I like that accessory as well. Plus Harley riders make cars much more aware of motorcycles on the road. Not to mention, they are kind of like moses when you get behind them spitting lanes.
I'm not a KLR basher either. But today I am playing one on this thread.
I think any bike you ride is great, for whatever reason you ride it.
just one of those days.....it ran out of juice.
that's why it's nice to have a kickstarter on the side....
ktm640E, 525exc and xr400 are the tickets....
That's why I didn't do Cleghorn with the rest of the guys.... that's not the bike for that kind of stuff, & certainly not with those tires
My plan was to ride out there, ride some roads... meet the guys for lunch, ride some roads back to McDs
Lonestar decided to join me so we rode over to Big Bear while the guys were having their dirt adventure, decided to take in a dirt road (2N10 & 2N08) managed that bit without incident...
After lunch we looked at a map & consulted with Sito... decided to head back to McDs via the 173 to the 138 rather than back the way we came.... the map I was looking at showed that road as being paved :eek1
when we discovered that the road turned to dirt, we decided to go ahead & give it a try... wasn't too bad, except for that one bit of sand
That sounds fun too. Sorry you fell, but at least you didn't go over the edge this time. Are you going to go with more aggressive tread on your next set of tires (soon)? Or are you going to keep that bike just for the road?
Yes, I know I need new tires soon, & probably will be looking for something with a slightly more aggressive tread, but I did get that bike primarily for the road.... it just seems that there are these dirt roads sometimes
OK this is the last one, but can someone explain this sign??
