Hurry, ONLY 366 spots left open
You guys are definetly tweaking my interst in this ride. I'm about 90% it's a go for me. Just gotta figure the costs and logistics from CT. My first instict is to ride the 990 out and back because, as my buddy Adam always says. " You ain't no Trailer Queen , is ya?" But the 500 EXC would probably be more fun. My questions are:
Is the ADV ride a real challenge or is it just a dirt road/ tar road sightseeing tour? Can an experienced rider on a 990 do the DS ride? I have run New England Enduros and Hare Scrambles for years and am a very capable "B" Rider. I have only run one other National DS ride in Alabama and rode the ADV ride the first day bored, the next day rode the DS ride and nothing was impassable on the 990, much more of a challenge.
Is this an OK ride to ride alone? I mean 500 guys, seems like somebody is going to come by eventually.
Looking forward to coming out West and riding with you guys
It sounds like you can handle it. Keep in mind that compared to the east coast, our 10+ mile stretches of sand, whoops, sandy whoops, gravel washes, and mountainside climbs are not what you're used to.
You'll have more fun on the 500 EXC, plus it will be a bit warmer in the truck when you have to come over the mountains or run into 2000 miles of rain.
I'm in, along with my two sons and an old High School friend from Texas. I'll be on a G650 Xchallenge.
The Orleans is SOLD OUT
I just booked a room with 2 beds this morning.
check again. D37 reserves a ton of rooms for this. use the code.
I will be breaking with tradition this year and leaving the big BMW at home (insert joke here). Looking forward to riding the course this year on a real dirt bike (insert next joke here).
Hopefully doing the John Gil ride back thru DV
See you there Big T!!!!!
you'll see a whole new side of LAB2V. as in, you'll see Red Rock Canyon.
may not be able to ride this year... this is a definite not miss ride... very well planned!!
i really like how the roll charts are laid out to coordinate with your gps.
We are in! 3 of us from CT are making the trek cross country to check out this desert riding stuff.
Last year I got to ride the second day using a friends bike. This year he wants to ride the whole thing and my bike is not street legal. Any recommendations on where I can rent/borrow a bike for this ride?
I've never used any of these guys but they're available.....
Any recommendations on tires for a fe570 on this ride? I imagine puncture resistance is pretty important
Edit- and do we have to use dot tires?
they don't check, but if you get stopped it's on you.
I have ran Dunlop D606 front and rear on my KTM 525EXC and they work great!
but I also love Maxxis Desert IT rear and Cross IT front.
run Ultra Heavy Duty front tube and Heavy Duty rear tube.
front psi 15-20lbs rear psi 10-15 lbs. (I usually run 17 front 14 rear on LAB2V but I run 10 front 8 rear on my usual Singletrack riding)
Cool thanks for the insight
Dunno of a site but I'm doing the ride with my 63 year old dad. He hasn't been on a bike in 40+ years but just got a Wr250R a few weeks ago. Been breaking him and his bike in ever since.
