That's a load of crap! A KLR won't go that fast. Unless it's downhill, or over a cliff.

Dang that must been a LOOOONNNNGGGG downhill!!! :D

Just as we are ready to roll, I look over and notice Trids muffler was missing a bolt, but we found a replacement and were rolling shortly after
    [IMG]
Until that bolt fell out a few miles away,
a combination of safety wire and chain link held it until later
    [IMG]
with muffler problem resolved we decided we had better catch up time wise and took the "adventure route"

found a support truck with a bucket of bolts to choose from Trid quickly had the BRP's muffler safely secured. This helped hold the subframe on later!

so the anticipation for the 25th anniversary of the LA-B2V was huge!:chace
when i had moved back to L.A. and am now riding dual sport i had this event on my mental calendar. if i did not ride any other ride this year, this would be the ONE !

as i was planning out this ride, some peeps bailed last minute but i had confirmed with TRID and the REGULATOR as riding partners.:rilla

trid and i were meeting the morning after thanksgiving at 5AM at a starbucks in Burbank so we could slab it to Lancaster by 6ish.

after a quick cuppa joe, we were off.
oh yeaaaahhhh , it was COLDDDDD ! going over the 14 it had to be in the mid 30's.:vardy
trid needed to change gloves, and i needed to piss...

we made it into Lancaster and met up with the regulator.
as we were checking in and getting our roll charts, i look over and see KNLKRN(chris) !!!!

we were all stoked to have him ride with us!
but as the numbers in our group grew(with the regulator and 2 of his buddies and trid, knlkrn, and me) we split into 2 groups of 3 but knew we would all cross paths as the day went on.

we were off without a hitch, first thing we were reminded of was the rain we got the few days before. PUDDLES ! ! ! i haven't seen mud since i was in Washington. i love MUD ! ! !:clap
we didn't get much pics from the start til some steep stuff cuz we were hauling ASS and having too much fun.
so we get to the HILL CLIMB and knlkrn almost backed out because half of the riders that were going up, were turning around and heading back down to the easier route.
i said we should at least TRY to climb it ..... so we did.
knlkrn made it easy on his WR426 but trid on his XR650L and me on the pig of a KLR made it 2/3 way and had to ride out a side diagonal route, but we made it !
shit, we thought that was the hard part........ hahaha
nah, coming down rutted single track was the hard part. this is the part where a fella broke his leg.:grim

this next set of pics were at the end of jawbone and we were almost done, sorta
    [IMG]

no more riding pics the rest of the day, but we did get into some thick sand (go figure) and got separated from trid.
before we were reunited in Barstow, there was a beautiful sunset.

trid showed up at the hotel and him and i go right to the bar for a brewski !
we had a friend outside welcoming us to Barstow, the best place on earth!

more beers and food, we call it a night knowing what we have to tackle the next day....:snore

up early and check in, we noticed trid's exhaust was missing a bolt.
we got a smaller bolt from a fellow rider.:thumb
rode a few miles, lost THAT bolt, then we get to the BAILING WIRE ! ! !

that works for only a few minutes, that is when we decide to take the 'adventure route' so we can make Red Rock Cyn.

we ride through a ghost town and trid gets all McGuyver on our ass and borrows some chain link fence from an abandoned gas station.
i see this amazing coffee shop sign there.

right after this ghost town we were back on the road and went through a patch of deep slippery mud and i was right behind trid and got sprayed with the stinkiest mildewy mud that had me dry heaving.:topes
i got him back later in a huge puddle.:fyyff
once on the 'adventure route' we hit some deep sand for MILES
    [IMG]

not a lot of pics from me til later, but KNLKRN has a bit of that on his report above ...

basically we had a lot of sand and a lot of gravel for MILES and MILES on this powerline road. that is where we were pinning it and fucking around.:ricky

this was above a dry lake and the powerline road we were heading on.

lunch at Sandy Valley at the only school in that town that has no gas station but has airplanes in their driveways.

after lunch, the roll chart warned us of 'wash outs' which i figured was just a few, but turned out to be over a dozen.
i almost got pogo'd off the KLR with its shite stock suspension. it was a quick but nutty ride.
onto the highway for about 5 minutes, then off to a forest road.
this is where i once again was reminded of Washington.
greenery, rocks, mud, creeks, and puddles. this was fast uphill climb.
a short break at the summit and tie down to keep trid's subframe from bouncing all over the place(the other side finally broke as well by this point).
we were off to Red Rock Cyn.:jive
    [IMG]

these rocks reminded me of "Deep Creek Crossing" that Riceless had taken us on a few months ago.

then i see these guys on a AJS and a BSA:thumb
    [IMG]

the guy on the AJS had to be in his 70's pushing 80. such an inspiration! ! !

after the climb through these huge rocks, we get to the summit and there is a crowd. we all made it! now we wanted a cold beer, but we still have a downhill rutty decent through the Red Rock Cyn.
    here are some nature shots....

last bit of dirt then off to Vegas ! ! !

no shots of us partyin or our room full of hooker or the keg or.....:rofl hahaha shit we were done. so effing tired. dinner and some beers, i won a gift bag full of bike cleaner, hats, etc.

the next morning we got up early , loaded our bikes on the Ad Mo tour van and crawled our way home in the holiday traffic.

once we got to Lancaster, trid and i slabbed it back to L.A. and the others trucked it home.

i do want to say a HUGE THANKS to trid, knlkrn, the regulator and the District 37 peeps for such a rad time! ! ! :beer

i am already looking forward to next year !
