That and UCI hates USADA. UCI has asked USADA to hand over all the evidence if they expect UCI to strip the titles.

I wonder if any other government would have went after their own like the USADA? What a bunch of bullshit! I realize he may not be the nicest guy but he sure has done a lot for cancer treatment and those who are battling it. I too think I will try to find a Livestrong jersey and wear it till it falls off.

Nothing like eating your own! Great job USADA! PRICKS!

I've gotta admire Lance for stepping away from it all. I'm sure he;s weighed the pros-cons and understands the implications. Sometimes it's better to step away from it, lets the chips fall where they may in order to focus on bigger endevours. The guy is a hell of an athlete regardless.

"Never failed a test" is another way of saying "never got caught".

    This comment blows my mind.
What a dick thing to say/think.

You are implying that its impossible for the guy to have won cleanly. He passed the tests (no matter how many of them - 29 or 500) and that's the only science in the game. The rest is hearsay- at best. Period.

This preoccupation with "getting" the guy is bullshit.

What should be looked into, on the other hand is how every damn penny is spent by the USADA. It kills me that some shithead lawyer can spend tax dollars chasing dip shit issues like this.

    USADA is a non-governmental entity.

It was very likely greater than 500 tests.

To be fair DOJ was investigating for fraud... using US sponsor money for the purpose of buying drugs, doping or masking agents. To succeeed they would have to prove that he doped, then prove he used sponsor money to fund it. They may or may not have been confident in their doping evidence.

Yea, the Judge said it wasn't the Fed's jurisdiction and preceded to rip USADA a new asshole.
It was painfully clear he was not amused by USADA and made it very clear he thought they were a bunch of zealots.

I've narrowed it down to 'earth'. Or 'Baltimore'.

....that receives the majority of it's funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, and has been recognized by the US Congress as the official anti-doping agency for the olympics. Your tax dollars at work!

Actually, I wouldn't care if he was from another country. Contador got tested, failed, denied (bad beef) :csm and will race again. Lance didn't fail the tests that were given to everyone at the time. When he was winning they went after him with everything they had to show he was dirty and still he never tested positive. These are the facts. What he is doing now is conceding nothing, just stopping the fight before it takes away more from his family and his foundation. I don't know the guy, he may be an ass, but going back seven to fifteen years to prove what? What a waste.

Also to ban him from the sport forever? :baldy Another waste! He was really the first american to bring the Tour De France to the US in a big way. He also rallied other countries to try to beat him; good for competition and good for the sport. We need more people inspiring our young to get off their asses and do something, Lance was that guy.

USADA statute of limitations is 8 years. I'm sure they have some justification for going further back than that and going further back than they have been an organization. But I agree with the it's not a witch hunt crowd.

Very interesting and LONG article from 2009 about the testing and Armstrong.

"Dr. Michael Ashenden began his career as an exercise physiologist with the Australian Institute of Sport. After assisting in the development of an EPO test for the Sydney Olympic Games, he left the AIS to focus on battling blood doping. In 2005, Dr. Ashenden was among of group of scientists who questioned the validity of a physiological study on Lance Armstrong, a dispute that led him to serve as an expert witness in an arbitration case involving Armstrong and a bonus payment for winning the Tour. Dr. Ashenden kindly agreed to speak with us and shed some new light on that controversy. He also helped us analyze the 6 positives from Armstrong's '99 Tour samples with a level of detail never before made public."
