I can't help but wonder how many guys with a high-rise jack or sand matts strapped to their Big Wheels are doing the same thing.

At least the canoe on the roof of my Pajero is getting faded evenly. :lol3

Yes and I believe you'll find very few who felt that Rover ever put a decent one into the Disco.

Expect about 300,000kms before needing a change(R380 box)....only good thing about that is that they're not too expensive compared to Jap stuff for a reconditioned box.....

Renew same and use MTF94 light gear oil instead of ATF as used as normal...Land Rover issued a Tech Bulletin about 5 yrs ago to upgrade the oil to this spec.

I just put one in last December for about €700...(could'nt send my old one back as it was too expensive to do so,so I took a hit on the exchange surcharge)...no special tools needed...DIY toolkit only...my buddy got a reconditioned one here(and a clutch)for his Nissan Patrol all in with labour it cost him €3000....

Evey time I feel like I would need to buy a Toyota I look here and see all vehicles seem to suffer inherent problems to some degree or other. Found within these forums here...

    http://www.tlocuk.co.uk/forums/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=3c2d47696f57a0c80326b0e8466cd02b

For example The D4D diesel engine (in the Colorado)can leak diesel past the injectors seals, washing the bores resulting in piston seizing...Toyota cover engine replacements up to 100,000miles and 6yrs old(ie out of warranty)...but..strangely enough no 'official' recall exists.....and it depends if your dealer knows about it compared to other dealers that just might...those who do,get authorisation to carry out the work, and those who do not?..their customers just get billed...

..A recon cylinder head for my 300tdi(complete with valve train) is about €550...I'd dread to think what same would be with a Toyota price tag....(maybe some day I'll get fed up fettling with my LR and just buy one Toyota Colorado just to see) :)

    Just say'in like....

Only for the first two years they imported them. 94-95, I believe.

I've got one. I have no idea how many miles are on it. Somewhere north of 300,000 miles on the chassis*, I have no reason to believe the tranny has been swapped. It whines in 5th gear but otherwise does fine.

*some DPO rolled back the odo before I got ahold of it.

Discos were always available with a Manual. Even the new ones are.

That's why I said they only imported them for the first two years. :deal

although, in retrospect, what I wrote earlier doesn't make a whole shitpot of sense...

I love to get that, if I had the bike paid off, but.... at that price it looks like a scam, it just seems to low to be real.

These guys for one - no affiliation but I have talked to them and they seem like pretty straight up guys:

    http://www.dividingcreekroverimports.com/info_on_defender_110s

I saw some of their trucks at a Land Rover event in Virginia last year - I was in lust over a 110 they had for sale and I thought it was pretty reasonably priced.

Try to get a LHD Rover out of mainland/southern Europe - the English trucks are prone to be very rusty and RHD is a pain to live with on a daily basis. Something out of central Spain would probably be ideal but I saw some very nice Rovers in Belgium and the Netherlands.
