Here's a couple pic's of my new to me LR2. Tried a dirt road close to home and first thing I saw was the grader near the entrance. Fresh gravel and nicely graded, not what I was looking for. Regardless the LR2 showed me that is plenty capable. First thing on the list is a good set of AT rated tires.

Does anynone have or know of anyone that has done business with Berkshire Land Rover's? Thinking of doing a build with them.

If you do a search on www.ebay.co.uk you should see them advertising stuff.......waaaayyyyyy over priced I think .....just have a normal Land Rover search and type in LHD and see stuff more reasonably priced.... TBH I think they want to deal with 'unsuspecting Amercian's' with too much money more than sense...just say'in like...
Try www.milweb.net and click on classifieds....( or www.autotrader.co.uk and us the keyword LHD...use a post code of say...BT234DZ to get it to work....)
Don't get fooled by freaks cashing in on the 'over 25 yr old LHD"scenario...at the end of the day a 25 yr old LR is what it is and is worth what it is IMO...whether it be LHD or RHD.....
e.g. I see a 90 LHD for sale at £2750 ex military and LHD....on ebay at the minute ..1986 .......no need to pay stupid money....be careful these incoming years you Yanks..lol
Outrageous secondary market for 90s and 110s will fall apart in about 3 years when we're allowed to import the real-deal Defenders.
As each year passes and the pool of importable trucks grows, prices will certainly fall, but I don't see things becoming drastically different, at least not in 3 years.
I don't understand what you mean when you say 'real-deal' Defenders. We've just recently approached the year range where importable trucks are equipped with 200TDi's, but there's virtually no difference between them and our NAS trucks aside from the powertrain. The trucks have gone largely unchanged since their birth, aside from TDi offerings and interior refinement.
I'm ready to get my hands on a new Puma with disc brake Salisburys, a TD5 and that new 6spd.
The Defender didn't exist until 1990/1991, friend.
It was simply the Land Rover Ninety and the Land Rover One Ten before that.
There are innumerable differences but I believe our obsessions are on slightly different levels so I won't bore you with my tedium.
And, uh, the TD5 and Puma are two different engines...

I didn't intend my post to have a condescending tone, and judging by your response I apologize that it came across as such. I've restored about a dozen Defenders, and while I'm no expert, I know the hard parts pretty well. Yes, there are a slew of changes throughout the years, most of which are refinements and modernization of components (drivetrain aside), but the way the truck 'works' has gone mostly unchanged.
Put a stripped down Ninety next to a modern D90 and you'll see two nearly identical vehicles, even though the Ninety isn't 'technically' a Defender.
Here's one that was offered to me recently for a very good price.

And indeed for all intents and purposes they are the same truck. But if you ever want to stump a car enthusiast, ask him what's older, the Discovery (1989) or the Defender
Any idea how to work the left slider for the heat cool system, without having to take apart the dashboard.

To be honest - I pretty much leave it on hot. Either I'm cold and I need the heater on, or I'm hot in which case I open the vents/windows. Luckily, yours is stuck in the right position
I hate those things; the cables always bind and the levers are too flimsy and bend when you pull them. Take a look at your heater box on the firewall in the engine bay. There's a cable that runs from the slider to the top of it which operates a little flap that diverts hot air into the cab. I'd disconnect the cable (held by a simple clamp) and try operating the slider again. If it moves freely, you know the cable isn't kinked or binding, and your problem lies within the heater box. If the slider still won't move, you're going to have to pull the dash slightly apart to further diagnose or replace it.
