The Arizona state senate is working on lane-splitting bill.

    SB 1007:

I suggest everyone who supports the bill call/email their state senator and tell them to pass it. To determine your state senator is a two-step process :

    1. Find your legislative district here:

    https://azredistricting.org/districtlocator/

    2.
Find your you district here which will list your state senator's contact info.

    https://www.azleg.gov/MemberRoster/?body=S

If you click on the "district" column on the webpage it sorts the list by district.

That's great, now if we could only get Nevada on board with this.

    thats the idea.

Get it to pass in one or two other states, then let the dominoes fall!

    :clap

Why do I get the feeling the Washington is going to be a big holdout. Their traffic stuff has always seemed more oppressive up there...

    Here is my letter:

    Hello Senator Bedford,

Please support Senator Farnsworths bill SB1007.

I have seen much negativity in the fake news from those scared of change. Most of the European Countries have lane sharing/splitting for motorcycle drivers. I believe that motorcycle fatalities dropped after they introduced lane sharing in California and other places.

I have lived in Los Angeles area and lane splitting is a life saving option for motorcycle drivers. When stuck in heavy stop and go traffic is when a motorcyclist is vulnerable. No place to hide and you get run over from behind by a texting cage driver. Not cool. When driving on the freeways in California, I could see the motorist make way for me upcoming between the traffic. They are courteous drivers for the most part, and if a hateful motorist opens a door to cause harm to the driver of a motorcycle filtering, stiff penalties are levied on the assailant. There are laws for opening car doors into traffic already. People still do it to bicyclists, so it is nothing new for motorcycles.

Lane splitting, filtering is good for the environment. It is good for congestion even for cars, everybody wins. Adding filtering is like adding another lane of traffic in that direction. More people will get through the light vs waiting in line and overheating the bike. It's a win/win for cars and bikes and the environment.

Those drivers who drive in a haze, need to wake up, and quit making excuses for bad driving habits. I feel that before you get a car license you should have to pass a motorcycle test. I doubt you could get that bill passed, so let's just make life a little safer for the motorcycle driver.

It may take a little time for the AZ drivers get used to sharing the road with motorcycles, but they will. It's time that car dirvers wake up and pay attention on the road, so the excuses have to stop.

We have the weather to drive most of the year. Let's go green!!!

    Best Regards,
    Dave

I sent a similar one to fake news kold. Made sure I told them they only reported one side and they should contact business owners (motorcycle) and get their opinions too. I asked them to do some actual reporting LOL.

Out of curiosity, is CA currently the only US state to allow splitting?

    Dear Dave

Thank you for your letter regarding SB1007

I'm afraid it will have to lose 100 lbs. and gain 20 horsepower before I'll vote for it.

    Sincerely
    Senator Bedford
