I have yet to ride Abbott Rd FS4610
This very unimproved road makes up the borders between two Wilderness areas,
the existing Salmon-Huckleberry and the new-last-year Roaring River Wilderness.

Road Rash tells me (and backed it up with an RR and some pics),
that due to the limited passage through the slide-out somewhere near half-way on this road,
that it should be ridden West-to-East.
nw scout tried to ride it in July, still snow
    88Toyota wants it cleared
Road Rash combined it with Fish Creek last October
strombolli decided to abort his ride of it in Oct 2007
pdedse did a nice RR on this road trip in Sept 09

That puts it's start just South of Estacada.
Breakfast meet-up spot: Harmony Baking Co, in Estacada. 10am, riders out at 11am.
We can take the long way to Abbott Rd, if someone knows any "interesting" stuff.

Camping the night before at roads end: Highrocks Springs Campground. 6-7pm Friday night, primitive, no bathroom, no fees.
32 miles from Estacada, only 1 mile not paved. Meet us there in AM if you want, out of camp by 8:30am.

Mustangshelly must work a 12 hour shift next Saturday,
and I probly ought to preride all unimproved routes before I take her riding on them,
so I'm going with that excuse to ride this rooad without her next Saturday.
It's several hours long, and I'll gladly lead us to something else great to ride on the other end,
if you all still have the ride-buzz at the end of Abbott Rd.

The long-term forecast looks good for next Saturday, and dirt roads are PERFECT right now.
No dust, high traction, and no mud.......YET.
So I figure this might be a last chance to ride this road this year.

Was it Harvest bakery we met at years ago Roadrash?

    My arm isn't ready anyway.

I am hoping the surgeon doesn't use the "S" word after my appointment Friday :eek1:deal:puke1

I rode Abbot west to east on Legs but it was dry. Wet might be interesting.

Ain't gonna rain on my parade.

I'll have my new tire on by then, and ready to rock.
Slow Joe with training wheels, and me on a new back knobby.
We'll be fine. What could go wrong?

Harmony Baking Co., it is then :clap

    What's early?
I was wondering myself, as Estacada is 1-1/2 hours from my home, and further for Slow Joe.

Is 9 too early? How about 10am?

Or I also thought I could camp the night before. Hmmm.

If I went in to Estacada I would cut off Hwy 26 at Clear Lake and across.

Yes, of course. FS58, the single lane paver, becomes the end section of the old Abbott Rd by High Rocks.
It joins up with Clackamas River Rd South of Estacada.

That would be a good start to the day.
I (we) could even camp there, leave our stuff stashed there,
There is a primitive campground right near there, I'll check my maps for the name.
We can ride to Estacada in the morning, save an hour or so from home, and travel a bit lighter.

Weather is looking tolerable, a "chance of showers" isn't too scary to me:

OK :norton Sounds like a party.
Meet at Harmony Baking Co in Estacada at 10am, riders out at 11am.

Camp the night before (or not) at Highrocks Springs Campground (primitive, no fees), at 6-7pm Friday night,
at the East end of Abbott Rd, and just leave the camping gear there (or stashed) for later pickup.

I do have a good camping setup, just bring your tent and warm bag only, skip cooking gear, etc.
I'll even bring a big tarp and ropes for a rain cover.
And,..... I will gladly cook a delicious dinner for all that show Friday night. Coffee in AM, etc.
Leave camp at 8:30am for Estacada.

You're a tough act to follow, Apple Jam. Such generousity!

I'm thinkin' I'll bivouac in Estacada (old stomping grounds) on Friday at the Red Fox and meet you guys for brekky. I'll be on a two fitty KLX with a 3 gallon tank. I'm not as old as the avatar but my pace is more relaxed than balls out. No GPS but I'll grab a map.
