With temperatures climbing towards 41C in the next few days, chewy52 (Tenere), CharlieW (Dominator), Kiz (DR650), CoolDollar (Stromer) & myself (TDM) took the final opportunity for the last decent ride for the year out to Mannum 84kms east of Adelaide, a small country town on the River Murray, home to many great farming invention firsts that revolutionized farming around the world, as well as the invention of the world's first steam car with a differential, designed & built 10 years before Henry Ford got his act together .

The pace was easy & relaxing over smooth & flowing "rally roads" with time to 'chat' along the way

................. a bit too relaxing for some, chewy now has a small job of straightening a hand guard after an argument with a rut, obviously distracted by thoughts of the impending bakery stop :lol3

After refueling the body, we found a few more overgrown back tracks before heading further east over the range.

chewy also found an easier way to open gates, although I believe it was actually in my hands at the time :gdog

was good to see Charlie dusting off the ol' girl, although there was no single track for the full job. Kiz getting a taste of MB's adventures.

    CoolDollar to the rescue

After rehanging the gate we headed further east decending the ranges to Mannum & the River Murray in the distance.

Hitting the plains, to keep everyone "focussed", I found a few kms of sandy tracks which made the first beer taste even more desirable :dutch

The winding gully road into Mannum was interesting following the badly eroded river course, sorry no pics as the mind was focussed on refreshments at the time. However I believe the local museum only has one more flood in it before all the ground under the buildings is eroded away.

After lunch we had a quick look at how the local council still hasn't repaired the waterfall road after floods over 12 months ago.

Charlie had an incident with a rock :D ...................and it's amazing how super hero strength can be mustered when you know a camera is coming out :rofl

a close call for chewy as well, in the deceptively soft sand

Climbing back up the range, west of Tepko.

...... and over to Steep Hill Road & it's fabulous views of the Bremer Valley

    to our final 4x4 track

By this time temperatures were climbing and farewells were said at the Balhannah Pub after a period of time :evil

Great day with great mates & a few laughs.

Although I wasn't laughing too much on the black top home with fuel starvation/vapourisation issues, coasting most of the way down the freeway with the engine not running, eventually limping home to the 'recooperating' fabulous brewery shed :photog for a ale or two. Thanks for the escort home chewy :thumb

cya in the new year guys for some more fantatsic "adventures" in the back blocks. :deal

    Cheers

Can't say I missed being there with you guys. As the temp rose during the afternoon I had some thoughts of how you might be going. All's well that ends well though. Ice cold beers all round last night I'd say - certainly was the go here....:jkam

    cheers

Looks like another great day out, MB. :thumb Would have loved to come along but like others, work got in the way.
What was the fuel issue? I've heard great things about the early R6 and R1 fuel pumps for our motors.
Happy Old Years Day to you and your family, MB.

    Thanks Sd.

re fuel issue ................ similar symptons as a few years ago now, but only in the hot weather ..... runs fine before carbys progressively starve of fuel.
