Any of you LC4ers have or know where to get the repair manual on CD. I see them come up on eBay occasionally but I haven’t lately. Or if you have one and want to rip me a copy that’d be great too. The plan is to try and convert the info to a ipod usable format and load the whole thing into my iPod. I think I can do it. If someone donates the source I’ll share the reformat if it works.

You can find your LC4 manual on cd at http://www.RepairManual.com.

Let me know if you have any trouble locating the CD for your particular model.

That's a great idea, Scott. Not sure how it would work, though. If you can get it to work, lets put it on mine, too. That way, when you crash into an aspen tree and put a BIGGER dent in you pod, we'll still have mine to use to fix your bike :rofl

Is this the best repair manual for an 07 Adv? Odd that it only lists through 2005.

    http://www.repairmanual.com/motorcycles/2005/36/0/18836/13826

Does it cover anything beyond the engine, ie Adv frame/suspension/etc parts?

I'm putting together my "kit" for a 6-month trip and I need as much (digital) documentation as possible.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Question for anyone out there with the "official" LC4 engine repair manual. I just received mine. It's somewhat loosely bound in a Kinkos looking black ring binder, and it looks like it's been photo copied. The cover is in color but all the photos inside are pretty low resolution and aren't that clear (nothing is glossy). Is this what the factory book looks like, or have I just been sold a photocopy?

    Thanks.

Most probably. Might even be a printout from one of the selfmade PDFs that float around. And of which next to none is legal.

Yep, I felt pretty screwed when I paid $35 for a Xerox fuckin' copy for my bike from the pirates at f@@king www.repairmanuals.com. But I have the manual in hand, none the less.

Won't send any business their way. Bastages. I was tempted to rat them out to "The Authorities", but that feeling passed. Plus, I didn't know who to bitch to.

You need nothing but a few bucks for gas and food, dood. The ol' girl will hold up just fine so long as you use octane boost EVERYWHERE south of the US.

I wasn't aware of a brown low octane wire/connection on the LC4. What years is it on?

A little searching shows it showed up in 2003. Guess that's why I haven't seen it on my 02. :norton

I've been running low octane gas here in Colombia and Ecuador. The higher the altitude, the better it runs (up to about 10k feet). Below 5K I get pre-ignition under hard acceleration at lower rpms. I was trying to figure out how to retard the ignition and cursing the CDI. :huh

Looks like you could order one from Sommer KTM to get a switchable CDI.

There are any number of KTM dealer sites that put up the complete parts listing for each model. You could likely find one in your native tongue, but here's one of the ones I use:
