Tri fucking umph!
Slick :): Must be curious on the snow.
Is that sidecar a two seater?? :huh
I don't want to repeat myself, but on another thread I told about riding a similar set up to this, but it had telescopic top links. It doesn't work,a sidecar needs to be steered through the corners, turning the bars in the direction of travel.A solo bike is counter steered through the corners, the two don't mix.But obviously it looks like I could be wrong, this rig seems to be working as intended.Have you any experiance with these Red Menace? A sidecar adds a lot of weight to one side of the bike, this wants to drag the bike one side, you counteract by steering against the pull, with no top link this will tip the bike the other way.I'm confused, any sidecar guys ridden one ?
hope your german is in order
or if not just go straight to the pics
i think hd produced one FLXI or so and i think vetter built a sports job
No, I haven't ridden a leaner, tho I have looked at a few. Every design seems to take a different approach, so it probably is inaccurate to generalize about the handling. THe Flexi's hooked to Indians were reputed to be the fastest things around in the bad old boardtrack days. Course, they weren't competing against very sophisticated designs back then.
Still, it looks like the worst of both worlds to me: You can fall down, so you give up the major advantage of the sidecar. The handling has to be wonky cause you probably still need to counter steer, but you have all this weight, windage and drag hanging off one side-how does that work? And you are a two track so you give up the slender advantage of a solo rig.
The guys with leaners swear by them. I'd like to try one some day.
I liked the aesthetic look of this rig, and it appears to be a tandem which is unusual. I think I would prefer it with a rigid four point mount, tho'
Having riden one,not very well, and thinking about it,I think you have to balance the forces. It would be a knife edge act,but you would get pretty good with practice, come emergency panic time and the whole plot would fall apart.
