Booked! Along with a lot of Italian friends
Won't be easy to organize everything, especially as we are talking
of dear old bike... let's see what happen
Wow....incredible site....thank you
non-french speakers, warm up your google translator.
So only vehicles that once (uppon a time...) did the Dakar can take part? Or any old ones? Or everybody?
edit: I saw that everybody can take part.
This looks soooooooo good :eek1
Ready to goooo
Giovanni Uliana on the left, our friend Mosè Rigoni Stern and myself on the right
The rally is on. A number of beautiful and cool Tenere's are taking part; XTZ 660 BYRD Marathon 91, XTZ 660 Marathon France '94, Xt 660 factory racer '86?(not sure about the year) and a lot of other nice bikes.
As you may understand I'm a Tenere fan - so a bit biased.
You can follow the rally here. Only found this link wich updates regularly so far.
If anyone now of more links, let us now.
Rallye des jojo's
Ok we did it!
in some way... Have to say the idea/concept was/is brilliant. The organisation was a bit down on the roadbook side, too many mistakes on the first days, too many different kinds of roadbook (but always on A4 sheets to cut and paste ), bivouacs often without showers and finally the weather didn't really help! But on the whole the thing worked out and most of the participants (around 40 4x4 and 40 motorbikes) had great fun. Me not very much as I fell down on the second day (bad tyres choice ), my ribs were/are a bit "annoying" but after a couple of days where I did the turist, I was still able to enjoy myself
Both orga and the other competitors were friendly and after my little accident I was very well medicated. There were 3 medical jeep along the rally and of course we were in France not in Sahara!
I'd like to share some photos
starting a Rally just aside the Tour Eiffel... no price
here I go
we had some fun on the first day
this is real deal, XTZ660R, just 15 made
anyway my Rally almost ended here, still can't believe it but my rear Mefo StoneMaster suddenly
abandoned me while crossing these furrows
I coudn't breath for a couple of minutes after hitting the ground. Luckily the medical team first
and x-rays shortly after confirmed no broken bones. So next couple of days just liason crossing
nice France landscapes and towns
Last few days I was able to do some offroad again, very nice trails not too difficult for an aged bike and an aged rider!
and finally it was over, after 8 days riding under any kind of weather and around 2000 km on any kind of roads
here the "Africans"
and here below the Ténéré people
It looks ther will be a second edtion, check the rally website in the next months
About eight weeks away for 2013 Rallye Jojo
Can't wait, enjoy the day, Grimmy
Pre rally stress kicking in as so much suspension work still needs to be done.. but my '85 xr666Rally will be there again next week!
The boys in Hamburg ran my bike in last weekend. It's deemed Rallye Ready
Enjoy the day, Grimmy
Checked. Awesome stuff.
Hello Grimmboy, your bike looks right! You should have fun with it, I just wish you the roadbook are better than last year... and the weather too
I'd have liked to join this year too, with a lighter bike... but for some reason I've opted to other projects. I'll have some Italian friends there anyway, with XTZ660Rally and an old Fantic 125 Atlas Rally Replica.
And it was a GREAT weak. I cant believe how much better the roadbook was compared to last year.
And with the weather we had this time... This was nothing less then a week of rally vacation on nice ease tracks trough a butiful country.
Agreed the roadbook was spot on just like the weather. Jetlag hangover and a thirty hour drive back to Hamburg have me spinning. Great rallye wonderful terrain can't wait until next year....
