Ha. As I understand it there were about 1500 pictures snapped. You're seeing the best of the bunch.
We were like a bunch of Japanese tourists. :lol3

Seriously, everybody has been doing this for awhile, and the cameras are so good these days.

And it is amazingly beautiful in this part of the country. The pix from last year were very motivating. :freaky

For everyone that is sitting behind a keyboard wishing to do this trip: it is not that difficult to do most of this in a 3 day weekend. Get out and go. Email Joel for the tracks. The riding is relatively easy, packing all of your food and water is the most challenging part of this trip.

After setting up camp Sunday afternoon we all rode to the end of the road past Indian Hollow Campground to see what the trailhead was about. Thunder River Trail I think they called it. We hiked in about a half mile to the ridge on the edge of Grand Canyon Park. Lot's of pics there as you've seen. None of us had any idea where the trail went. We just wanted to see what it was about, out there in the middle of the forest.

Like a dumbass I forgot to bring my camera, not knowing we were going to be treated to more stunning views. In fact, as I started out on the wilderness trail I thought to myself, "I'll walk out on this for a bit and if there's nothing much to look at I'm just going to go back to camp and relax.". Well, low and behold...

    Trailhead

A half mile in is the park entrance with all kinds of data. What I found most interesting is the elevation changes and mileages going down into the park. From here to the river is just over 15 miles and 4000' of elevation change. Apparently each year a bunch of people have to get rescued out of the canyon that thought it was no big deal to walk down there and back. They get down there, get dehydrated and realize they're not going to make it back and have to be rescued.

So, the next morning while everybody was getting up and around I grabbed a breakfast bar, my cup of coffee, AND MY CAMERA! And walked to the end of the road and back out the trail. Nice early-dawn views of the park here.

Joel letting the bike get some rest. This was a fun hill. I'm glad Chris didn't bring the Versys. :lol3
    [IMG]

My guard is always up when people approach in the middle of nowhere. Not quite crackheads in Victorville, but actually...

Friendly dudes with kind words and cold beers. I gotta admit, they really did lighten the mood during the tire change. Hot water, baby. I have to find the video for this. We were all just cracking up... wtf is going on?! :rofl Where are we? Where the hell are Joel and Paul??? :huh
    [IMG]

Day 3 of our Grand Canyon Ride was the best riding I had so far. Beautiful forest 2-track, with some occasional hill climbs, rocks, sand, and rocky hill climbs. Also the best Grand Canyon Vista, Sublime Point...

At this point we are about 7-8K ft high and the temperatures are perfect. Wide fast dirt road. Couldn't ask for more...

My camera's battery died on me today so I dont have too many pictures at North Rim. There is a great lodge right at the edge with a magnificent view. We had sandwiches for lunch, get some souvenirs for the loved ones, gassed and watered up and head to our 3rd camp ground Lees Ferry.

I have videos of our forest ride, hill climbs and some XXX pictures of certain individuals. If there is no copyright problems, I'll post them as well.
