The river was cold, but getting clean was worth it, especially after busting my ass for 2 days of picking up KTMs.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh, i thought that was a bear!!! The funny thing is, I was looking for my board shorts forever complaining to Tim, who ended up being the wrong guy to complain to about not having swim attire- but he didn't say a fucking thing. Just waited patiently and then cruised down to the river with me when I decided I'd just wash off what I could. We find Ersin, Rich, Frank (i think), and couple fly fishermen down at the river. I find a nice rock, get my balance and start washing up.... seconds later Tim is buck ass naked wading into the water (:rofl:roflI'm laughing out loud as I write this:rofl:rofl) like he does it every weekend. I just start busting up, realizing he sat there and listened to me whine about not having my board shorts. Hahahaha, aw man, Tim, you're a character. Consequently, we had the entire stretch of river (within view of this exceptional male specimen) to ourselves. Our guys were gone. The fishermen bolted. It was hilarious. Cheers Tim.

The water felt great. Not nearly as cold as I thought it'd be, but the whole trip actually went a lot better than I thought it would! :lol3:lol3 I guess there were a lot of orange bikes on the ground... That first day was the most hiking I've ever done on a motorcycle trip, but somehow it was all absolutely enjoyable. That's a lot of work trekking up and down steep, rocky roads in full gear at high elevation. And I loved it. Strange.

Tim was a champion up there. Always upbeat, positive, on to the next situation helping the next fallen ktm. :lol3 I got your number Tim! .....

    <iframe width="250" height="188" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/J2sxyBMHtMM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

...figuratively speaking, or I would have been rockin like a hurricane in Reno. :freaky It was cool spending an extended amount of time with you guys-- mostly guys I had ridden with before, but this trip was waaaaaaaaaay different. An awesome, free, wide-open kind of different. I like doing my own thing most of the time, but I definitely see the value in traveling with a group of guys like this. It'll be interesting to see you guys later and see what kinds of stories will be told from these rides. Alright, enough of that. Damn it Brownie you're starting to rub off on me! :lol3

:deal My video is being sorted and labeled for editing.......

    Sand, swamp, mosquitos, and alligators.

If we could just add the alligators to the riding out west, we would have the best riding in the world out here.

Not just somewhere else, Southern California. :evil Best climate and best riding, at least very close to best riding areas like Utah, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, Baja...

Main ingredient for a great ride is great company and luckily we have plenty of them here in SoCal.

Our plan for day 2 destination was Indian Hollow Campground. We left Toroweap and a minute or two down the road is a neat vista where you can park your bikes and walk like 50' to the edge.

From here we high tailed it out towards Indian Hollow:

    Beautiful rolling hills:

Gassed up in Fredonia, AZ and had lunch several miles up the road in Kanab, UT.

After lunch we hit slabbed it for a bit until we hit the forest road. Cheese!

Once we made it to camp, we setup and headed for the trail head that leads to an overlook of the GC:

Thank God we had a camp fire that night as it was pretty nipply out. Morning temps were in the low 30's.

The next morning we packed up and headed out. Next destination - Point Sublime and the North Rim.

Ah, the silt bed. rrugger (John) went through so fast & easy I couldn't get a shot in time:

buster714 after he almost lost it, slipped sideways, :eek1 and onto the greenery:

After watching the spectacle at the silt bed it was time to ride! Onward ho!

As we made our way towards the North Rim the scenery became more and more picturesque...

Not very long after that photo rrugger got a front flat. Ridder990 (jon) jumped right in with his super spoons and got 'er done.

We parked the bikes and headed to the deli...

This one was taken from the balcony of the lodge. Grand!

We fueled up, purchased and packed our water and beer for the night and headed out. Next stop - Lee's Ferry.

The views through the Kaibab Forest were amazing. Like Chris, I too would like to get back up there and explore the area; next year though :dunno

As we make our descent, the Vermilion Cliffs make themselves noticed!

As we made it down to the plain the temperature was about 20*+ than up top. Shadows are getting longer by the minute. Gotta pick it up and get to camp. Beers are getting warm! :beer
    [IMG]

    Cheers from Lee's Ferry!

After 3 days we were dirty and smelled like funk. The lady up at the north rim beer stop said the river was a bone chilling 48*. She was right! To confirm this, the fly fisherman hollered from over yonder, "It's 48* degrees!". :lol3 :vardy
    [IMG]

Looking down stream from the fellas:

Lee's Ferry is pretty barren and warm. Great for fishing though! Oh, and camp fires were allowed only in the BBQ pits! So that night we drank under the stars!

Epic ride gentlemen. I heard mention of a fall journey, if you don't mind a ktm 690 in the bunch, I would love to ride with some fellow inmates. Being that I have lived in Vegas my whole life I have never been to the grand canyon. Thank you for sharing this trip.
