Did this just this past weekend up in Central VA. You know you're stuck when the bike can stand up by itself without the kickstand.

Time to resurrect another thread :D

I've loved seeing all the pics of inappropriate equipment in settings never envisioned by the manufactuer :thumb

Here's a few of mine from last year:

Cruisin' down a dirt road on the San Rafael Swell

Down at the east end of the Swinging Bridge on the San Rafael Swell

I'd had this bike on a dirt road once before I took the ride you see in the pics above. The ride in these pics ended up being something like 70 miles on dirt and I learned quite a lot. For example, a V-Star is a pussy cat on dirt if you keep the speed under about 15. You can ride a V-Star on dirt at higher speeds, but not without difficulties such as mirrors coming loose enough to flap in the breeze like flags. Please note that other things may have vibrated loose as well. Things like a negative battery terminal. I also learned that hitting deep, loose sand at 40+ miles per hour on my bike can double a rider's vocabulary and prayer life :lol3

I'd love to see more riders post up pics in this thread :lurk

Any bike can be a dual sport - if the rider wants it to be. :D

At the top of Thompson Pass, en route to Valdez, Alaska. Rode it out there two-up. My passenger and her husband were on KLR's. He rode his out to the end of the trail, she wasn't sure she could make it, so rode with me. :huh

The notorious Dalton Hwy. On a Concours, shod with ME880's, loaded down with aux. fuel and camping gear. We don't advise that, usually. Guess I was lucky on that trip.

Bet Suzuki didn't realize they had a capable dual sport in their GS1100G when it rolled out of the factory back in '82. This one went on to complete 3 more round trips to Deadhorse, including the inaugural IBA Haul Road 1000 (North Pole to Deadhorse and back to North Pole in under 24 hours).

I don't think Honda expected the GL1800 to see Alaska's winter-time temperatures as the built-in thermometer only reads to -10°C.

The parking lot at the Arctic Circle sign isn't too crowded in early April. :vardy

Big, wide tires throw up a pretty good bow wave.

This shot actually makes the bike look good. I don't think there is once piece that is not bent. :(
