Front page nominee! Woo hoo!
Hey, can I get the original for that? Email it to baldy at smugmug dot com. Thanks!
I had an '02 GS/Adventure ( way too HEAVY ) for the gnarly Dualsporting that I do, so I moved to the Dakar. This was an excellent Bike, that could handle almost anything that I could throw at it. The Dakar was just awesome on the road, and I did quite a few things to make her better in the dirt. Still wanted to lose more weight...so I just went to an '02 KTM LC4-640/Adventure. Mission accomplished...but OHhh I miss my Dakar on those 600-mile days ---> Getting to the Dualsport Rides !!!
Now I have enough respect for the Dakar...that if I could only have one Bike, that Dakar would be mighty high on my list. SOLD her to a fellow in California ( made a new friend in the process ). Rode the Dakar from up in Minnesota to California for Delivery. That is a statement about the bike. Oh,
the trip to California was after first driving down to Kansas for a "Kicking" Dualsport Ride !!!
Yeah I've heard of it. It goes like this: "using tools provided under seat, first remove oil cap. Second, remove motorcycle. Replace with dual-spark motorycle. Replace oil cap."
Whoa, but seriously, that's cool if it works somehow...
Great looking bike Mr Kool, where did you source the front guard? Looks more useful than the standard "beak" and probably won't so readily crack across the mount, like most do after some serious adventuring (mine twice now been plastic welded), I'd like to find something like that.
Greetings fellow F650-ers.
Here's my ride. This is how it usually looks. I'm on the permanent camping budget, so this bike doubles as my house.
It's an el-cheapo UFO Enduro fender. Thanks for the compliment.
here's my bike
I've got the carribou luggage fitted and a garmin 2610 wired in, and as most people around here i'm waiting on some parts from touratech
hope you like

Bi zoo. Are you the cat from Transylvania?
I pick up my new 2006 F650 GS on Sat. I can hardly wait...
Maybe I should have started a new tread, but figured I would get an answer pretty fast here. We (Wife and I) are trying to find a dual-sport for her. I will be getting a V-Strom 1000 very soon (currently riding a ST1300) We tried having her sit on a V-Strom. Way to tall for her. Lacking about 3 inches or more :eek1 . Of course she wasn't happy at all, specially after I told her she would have to ride to Prudhoe Bay from SC on her VTX with knobby tires . So after about a week of intense research, we have come to the conclusion that a 650GS would suit her fine. However, she is worried it's not going to have enough getty up and go when she have to ride interstate. She don't expect VTX1300-kinda torque/power, just enough to be able to maintain 70-75 for hours on end without strain on the bike. So what say you? Your answer will be very important to her, because as we always ride together, we will be riding together on the dual-sports too.
Very nice pics, folks......
The 650GS will do 90 to 95 anytime she wants it to. Mine is best at 75 to 80. I just cant believe how smooth it is for a single. I bet you will drive the 650 and be suprised at how good the bike feels and handles.
and a last shot of Alberta in Summer
On a recent trip in the Colorado Rockies just around Teller City.
