HiYa Jay!!!!! You ARE Da Man!!!
my .02 is that it is an aeroflow with the clear lowers,,you can also get the lowers with a tint option,,hey kongo
It will handle the 100k part just fine, I'm at 86,000 now on the wee.
It will handle the abuse as well. I broke the subframe on the GS and the wee hasn't had any issue there. My GS had 3 transmissions in 4 years along with a clutch. The wee is still using the original clutch and the transmission is smooth as silk, not the clunkbox the GS was.
I'm probably carrying about 75-100 lbs. less on the strom, not as much cargo capacity as the GS but it made me trim down all the crap I carry.
Why you sold it then, the engine lasts about 500k?
Front discs are TRW.
Rear disc Galfer.
Fablon squares on tank. No bash plate at the moment because it fell off.
I sold it because I kept having transmissions problems.
2nd. to 3rd. upshift was at times almost impossible and downshifting from 3rd. to 2nd. wasn't much better.
BMW replaced the first one under warranty with the latest revision at 36,000 miles. Second one was done at 74,000 miles and they wouldn't even help with the cost, it was $1700 to replace with the next revision. I started having the same problems at around 94,000 miles and decided to sell it.
Ah, bugger, what a bad luck :-(
At 80k the tranny of our GS had the same 'sorry waarenty only to 65k, sorry" so had to pay myself the first tim, but since then i had a good 96er tranny, and now with a new (second hand RT engine) the now R3B still runs with now 500k on the clock, in the time the engine was in the operation theater to examin the cost of revision, it had a complete unit of a burned down gs so this tranny will have done about 400k without a hitch.
Even beter than the in between engine, that tranny would ever so often refuse to make te switch from 3rd to 4th under lots of RPM on our twisty Dykes :-(
MY DOG MAN YOU HAVE LOST YOUR BEAK!!!! ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does the left pannier look crooked? And, isn't there a law somewhere about putting Touratech stickers on Jesse's?
Heres mine but Ive added Fastway footpegs since the photo. It does get filthy but I clean it afterwards. Ive toured Europe etc on it and wouldnt change it as the setup is just how I like it.
I bought the tourtech hard parts for the bike and they gave me a sticker. I liked the sticker so I put it on. I will gladly not put one on if Jesse will give me a new set of panniers for free . As far as the crooked pannier you can read my ride report below but basically I hit a black bear in Canada doing around 60-70 miles per hour.
It was a long trip through British Columbia. Lost my beak, broke a brake assembly and hit a bear but I am typing this response now so I guess all is well.
P.S. The bear is ok too.
over 95.000 km.on the way back from song kol lake.
94 gs over 95.000 km engine no problem, crack subframe welded good to go.kyrgyzstan on the way to "song kol" lake.
98 I picked up last summer. Only 500 milles on the odometer. It was like a brand new bike.
Wow, that's quite the find. The previous owner bought it, took it for a test ride, then kept it in storage for 8 years before selling it to you?
What a great thread. As soon as I can upload a picture, I will. Most recent add to my 1100GS is the SW Motech Engine Crash Bars. Great fit, finish and looks.
95 R1100GSA. I've owned her for about four years. 22K when I got her, about 50K now (yeah, I know, I don't get out enough). Tranny rebuilt at around 22K, currently off road with bad camchain noise (center tensioner is latest target for replacement) Otherwise, no major issues - has never failed to get me home.
The previous owner bought this and a K or an RT at the same time and then sold them both 9 years later at the same dealer he bought them from. I think the other bike had 700 or so miles.
The day I bought it there was a kid there hoping I was not going to show so he could grab it.
Picked this up last month - 9,145 miles on the odo and I bought it from the 1st owner, who "replaced" it with an R1200CLC (!)
Haven't done much to it yet - cheap aux lights, a loud horn, and the Sargent (which I bought right here on ADV!). Low exhaust for full-size left-bagness is a Remus rig with no cat conv. It came w/the Givi screen on it and a beat-up BMW topcase that I guess I'll find a use for sooner or later.
This is my 2nd R1100GS, and hopefully my last - I'd like to ride this one for the rest of my days
That is my garage it's parked in front of - but that's also where it stays parked rain, snow, wind, or shine (or any combination of them). Garage has been converted to living space.
