Where do you buy your Wings for the Adventure 990?

Is there anybody close to Seattle who has them? I've listened to the YouTube videos but I don't think recorded sound work well with exhausts.

I read every post I comment.

Akrapovic makes a 2000 euro system for LC8's.

FYI Wings if considered a knock off Akrapovic.

the most exspensive akro's ive seen are a grand, and those were on ebay. the wings do not seem to be knock offs but a different design. if anything you could go back to the oval design and say akro knocked off the yoshi rs3 lol its all relative each company makes thier own little changes here and there. i myself have stock ones....................but then again i just bought it and those stockers are getting removed. ive found a nice used set of akro's for 600, if those sell before i get them, then ill end up getting wings.

Hi,had them on. The look good, are solid manufactured and sound excellent.
Unfortunately I will have to sell my 990 and the pipes with it. If somebody is interested PM me. Alex

Let me get this straigt. Wings is a knockoff now? :poser Please :stfu:asshat

Wings has 2 unique designs for the 950/990 and neither is even close to a knockoff of Akros. They are commonly compared to Akros because the quality is so great and Akros have great quality. The comparison to Akros is a compliment to Wings.

Your Remus exhaust is one of the most basic designs on the market, if anything it could be considered a knockoff of every other basic design out there. I can't imagine a knockoff of anything would bother you being such a huge fan of R&D-less Chinese products.

I can only hope that you continue to enlighten us with your insightful posts. YOU are a real asset to advrider :thumb

Dude- you've got your knickers pulled up tight! :lol3. Relax- It took some time, but I figured out a solution. It's pretty simple, really- you buy Akro's and he'll buy Lexx (Lexx's or Lexxi or whatever the plural of Lexx is) and we can all go ride and have a good time. :clap:clap:clap:clap

New to the ADV - recently picked up the bike and had to change the stock cans - Lexx seemed worth a try. Quite pleased with the quality, sound and performance. Here's a link to vid - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUOGFF182P4 .

Wish granted. Wings made in Slovenia, guess what other manufacturer makes its pipes there? The similar looks must be a coincidence.

Oh, and I don't know where you got the idea of me having Remus on mine. Seems to me that it's you not reading the posts or getting your facts straight.

Your style of argumentation is very constructive. All the best to you.

I am running a fmf powerbomb head pipe and a Lexx mid and can on my built klr and it looked great worked well and mounted up with two hangers instead of one. The fit was nice I lost one canister spring but all was well until my last ride, i would say less than 10,000. miles total. the can blew a nickel sized hole out of the middle of the first hanger and promptly melted a hole out my seat side cover, the one with the aluminum and fiberglass heat shield and melted my high dollar custom seat seat. If it had been two inches further back it would have ruined my Giant Loop gear bag and maybe started a fire. As it was I missed my ride. Upon inspection after removal I noticed the aluminum puffed out around and between the straps of the steel hangers, less on the rear one than the front. I am no expert but it seems to me the can heated up and expanded, the aluminum faster than the steel hanger and eventually broke open. No love at all from Rocky Mountain. I saved a few bucks to begin with but I am paying now! So my opinion is buy a better pipe and save money all at the same time! For what it is worth I am buying a stainless can this time from Patriot Racing in CA the price is reasonable and like I said it is stainless.

My personal experience, the can didn't last longer than 200 miles on a KLR before internally falling apart. RM gave a store credit or offered to replace. It's heavy and the material quality is China's mid-level stuff. Not horrible but not quality stuff either.

If you go over to the KLR forum, people swing on its nuts. I have no t read one single long-term report on the exhaust until I read what the other guy posted.

I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone based on my own experiences.

I had one on KLR for years and never had any issues, and my buddy has had one a CRF for many years without issue either. I wouldn't put them on the 990, but I think they're a great value for the milk crate set.

Ok I took the bait and bought a set of Lexx slip on's for my 990. Fist impressions are great. Install was straight forward with good instructions. Sound is great!! Much much better than the stockers. Heat is a thing of the past....huge plus alone!! My only complaint was strictly cosmetic and had to do with badging and my own OCD issue with things matching on both sides. So far so good!! I'll report in in a few months/thousands of miles. :deal
