To get 100,000km in a year you'd need to maintain a constant average forward velocity of 11km/hr. I suppose _technically_ a Ural could do that... :)

Some of the non-Ural folks here are very sensitive to Urals for some reason, that's one of the reasons we are lucky to have Soviet Steeds.

It's a one-man pissing contest you've got going on here.

    I don't have a chain-driven bike. I also don't require my bike being bulletproof. I like to work on it. And I don't put 100,000km a year. I think that's OK, too.

There's plenty of nice things about owning a vintage K-bike, but a superiority complex is not one of them.

    You've certainly seen to that.

You must be real popular at parties.

I was under the impression it was a discussion.

My shit needs to be reliable. Are there other bikes out there that will do the same job? Hell yeah. That just happens to be the one I picked. Why? Because most people don't like them and they're cheap.

I reckon bikes are like dogs in that they resemble their owners.

My dad always told me not to argue with idiots, "They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

    Just ignore FR700 guy.

Did you wish to discuss motorcycles, or would you prefer ad hominem? Old mate has already gone down the name calling route by invoking the term troll in regard to Tarka.

I used the word "troll" as a verb, not a noun.

Luke certainly doesn’t need any defense from me, but I wouldn’t ignore him. You can read his Gus Buss thread and learn a bunch if you’re inclined to.

Looks like you’re sold on a Ural, so I would recommend to head over the the Soviet Steeds were you can learn a ton about Urals without the displeasure of alternate opions.

I'm fine with different opinions. I don't enjoy listening to someone get offended that I didn't like his opinion. FR700/Luke took it a little too far. He made a suggestion for K bikes. I looked into them. I don't like them. Should have been the end of it.

The Uralistas (aka: Foil Heads) are overly sensitive, aggressively defend their rigs, and guys Eastbloc, Gobium, TurTal, and others have a history of going over the top in a hurry when they get their panties in a wad and all butt hurt. FR700 likes to push their buttons.

Don't write off FR700 and the Aussies too quick. They do things differently down there, but there is wealth of information that can be obtained from them if you can tolerate their unique humor and strong personalities. I've been known to piss them off too but everyone gets over it after a while.

Well....thanks for everyone's opinions. I appreciate it. But if this kind of drama is the norm than I am out. Ain't nobody got time fo dat! Unless you don't have a life. I'll get a Ural, enjoy it and hang out with the foil heads on occasion. I don't need a forum with a 15,000 post count to make myself feel good. The guys at SS welcomed me warmly and I even have an invite from a local guy to let me come ride monkey with him. Have a great life guys, I hope you enjoy the hell out of it.
