A teaser for now, more later tonight.
Our day of fishing was off due to wind, disappointing but that's life. Dad heard the church bell ringing and made it in for service. After we walked around the corner for breakfast and then on to the weekly farmers market. Both enjoying the market, a few hours got past us, oh well. We got on the bikes and headed south, as we are sailors we wanted to see the big marina at Purto Escondito, it's a dandy. Dad made friends with a couple young guys fishing from the pier and gave it a try, no luck. On the return trip to Loreto we pulled into the golf resort just south of town, again, wow. What a place.
It was about noon by now and we turned the bikes west and headed up the canyon for the mission, super fun twisty blacktop! Soon it was clear the Baja gets big rain events, the road is very washed out in many places. Anyway, the mission was spectacular. We continued west on the dirt road headed to the Pacific side, fun riding with lots of water crossings.
Back to Loreto for a late dinner and bed.
We are enjoying Loreto so much we wanted to stay another day and try to get fishing, made a call and a captain came over to our casita last night. We all would cross fingers for not too much wind and meet at the Loreto marina at 6:00am.
Dad and I are naturally early up so that was easy. After coffee, showers, etc. we walked down to the marina and found Pancho Baraucuda. Off the dock in the dark and out to catch our bait for the day. We were enjoying catching bait so much who wants to try for the big ones. After about 25 small mackerel we took off for the Yellow Tail. What a great day we had. We each landed one big Yellow Tail and both had a blast trying, what a strong fish! Pancho let us stay out and keep trying long after all the others had headed in, super guide.
We got cleaned up some, then took the bikes to the Pmex as we are off early in the am, back on our way.
A great town Loreto, we plan on returning for more fun.
Too bad for us but its time to head north now, Britt and Finn are in Sedona for a birthday party and I better have the birthday boy back for it. Besides, I need to catch a plane back to WI, yucky.
Oh we'll, reality is ahead I guess. North we go! I big day to get all the way to Bay of LA.
It was a long day to get from Loreto up to the Bay of LA but we made it. We were trying for Alfonsinas again but that was just too far and neither of us wanted to ride in the dark.
At the bay we made some new friends, they were down doing recon on some sweet single track over to the pacific side and had GPS the route for running tours. We will have to return with smaller bikes for that route!
Another nice dinner and fun laughs with new friends.
Coco has new stickers on our trip north.
We made it back to the USA, crossed at Algodones just before dark and got a room at the casino. Bushmills and hot tub followed by steak dinners.
What a day, again just short of 400 mi and boy did it feel like they were rough roads, especially rough. Very nice scenic views along MX5 up to SF and north. A stop in SF for ice cream and petro.
One last day north returning to Sedona for a birthday party with the girls and more fun before I need to return to the real world.
What a great trip!
Can't wait till next year!
That looked like a great time. Nice fish!
