    Hey guys,

Ive been putting together a list of events with web info, dates, prices etc etc so that I can plan my next year of racing around the world's finest sandpits!

I thought, judging by the amount of research it has taken, and the general lack of knowledge of events that even my Dakar riding mates have, it would be good to share with the inmates! Feel free to comment and add info of races that you know about. MY criteria are:

    • Multi Day / Long distance
    • Rallies, Baja or Extreme / Endurance
    • Must accept bike entries [goes without saying on here!]
    • Must accept International entries
That should cast a wide enough net, and hopefully it will help raise awareness of some of the smaller / newer events that international riders can access.

I am generally UK based, which is why there are a number of the UK Big Bike Rallies listed, but they are good training, so they stay on the list for me!

Ill post month by month from my chart, as it wont allow me to paste the whole table..

Cheers and look forward to adding some more to the list!
    Ben

Not sure the Desert Challenge in Abu Dhabi is confirmed for next year. I have heard rumours on ground level that it may be cancelled.

Would be a shame if that one's lost next year.. a buddy of mine was spannering there this year and said it was a cracking race. Was hoping to try and enter all the FIM races next year... will have to wait and see i guess!

Are you UAE based? Was out there in Feb, pretty tempting to get set up out that way for time off from work..just comes down to how often people ride!

Every friday there's loads of people riding. Every saturday there's a few people riding. Every other day if you look hard enough you'll find someone riding or willing to ride. All year round.

Fingers crossed for desert challenge, seems like there's issues with sponsorship but I would be fairly surprised if there wasn't an FIM event of some description in the region.

I'll add one I'm seriously thinking of doing in northern Greece:

    http://www.serresrally.gr/index.php?lang=en

    Serres, Greece
    October 26-30

    1200kms total
    bikes - quads - cars
    Dakar-style navigation (Road book only)
Same club that hosted the ISDE in 2008 (they know their shit),
think 5 day rally-raid but set in terrain similar to Sardegna

Also, last weekend of November is the 24hour race in Central Greece...
Have raced it 3 times so far in my land rover, it's
quite an experience ... non-stop saturday noon to Sunday noon,
2 pit stops of an hour each... last year I got 3rd place.

This year they are introducing bikes (was only quads & cars up to now)...
should be .. ummm ... interesting :evil

Serres Rally is part of the UEM Rally Cup, 3 rounds located in Romania [Satu Mare], Hungary [Gyor] and Greece [Serres], the UEM XC Cup is located 3 rounds Poland [Rembertow], Hungary [Ber] and Slovakia [Zaskow].

Good source of info for all the UEM races is:

    www.uem-moto.eu

Balkans Cup is another series that ive turfed up.. That one includes the Greek 24hrs and also: Rally Albania, EVEA Rally Raid, Balkan Offroad Marathon... all really cheap entry fees [less than 600 euros, with some events being a week long and proper nav too]

Rally Breslau sounds pretty bloody good!

Cheers for that Seth, had a look at it, 900 euro for a week's nav racing, think i might have to have a serious look at getting onto them. Eastern Europe definitely lining up to have a lot of nice looking races through the year.

Yes i agree. Fly over, rent a bike, fly home. All for pennies on the dollar in comparison to the other events out there. My tab for the Australian Safari...eeek.

Seth.. no brainer really! Im lucky that i have a lot of time off from work and just recently picked up a very cheap 2nd rally bike from eBay, so Eastern European races I could leave a bike with friends and fly or drive down for each one.. definitely way cheaper than a big one like the Safari!

Out of interest how much do you think youll be throwing at your attempt? I have some friends doing Dakar 2012 and theyve spent a fortune.. my thinking is it would be better to be hitting up alot more races for the same amount of money! Sertoes, FIM XC Cup etc etc..

Would be interesting to know more about your prep if you have time to share!?

I have a lot of detail in the "blog" link in my signature :deal but I am looking at about $15k to $20K to do the Safari.

We did make an inventory in the past and shared it to, should be somewhere in the racing section.

Eastern Europe Rally is very nice, low level entry way with high level riding, starting in Poland, then Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, going very far north (European bear country!!) and then heading back. Snow, sleet, rain and sunshine mixed with cheap beers, good riding means it's always a pleasure! Well organised too!

Had a look and read the lot! Good job I have here eh :D

Id definitely be up for getting my teeth into the Safarin one of these days.. but toss up would be between Sertoes or Safari... and when to squeak it in, as i'm pretty well focussed on a Dakaro for '13... see how things go i Guess!

To the Dutchie- what do you and your gang do for training?? I usually ride with the Desert Rose crowd in UK.. but also cant spend more than 90 days a year there for tax reasons... you know of some good places I can head to with my bikes? I have a racetruck with garage and no house...so totally free to live, breather and die for biking! Desperately trying to find good options on riding / training of any kind during the week.. but most people seem to have these things that get in the way, something known as a job!?

    Cheers

I live in Amsterdam, not much riding to be done around here :huh Cant help you out on the UK tracks :rofl

Some dirt paths in the east and south of Holland, but 2 many people walking their dogs..During fall and winter the farmers open up their fields and there are about 6-7 enduro's during that period, then the tracks open up next day for a 'non competitive' ride. Thats about it. (we dohave a 1000km offroad gps track from south to north but that's only about 40% offroad)

Germany is off limits, except for the east. Belgium has some nice tracks and hollow roads. Then there is France, the UK, Poland, Romania, Spain, Portugal etc...

As you can see, us Dutchies have to travel some way to do a bit of offroading..

Hahah yeah i get your point! Uk has some really good trails..especially in the Welsh and Yorkshire hills!

I usually end up in Morocco when I can..but have spent the last year with your colonial friends in South Africa-amazing riding out there!

Just been chatting with a mate from Serbia, who's offering to home my truck and bikes while im away at work..all those Eastern European races arent to be overlooked! If you ever want to head East let me know... plenty of space for a few bikes and bodies and always happy to split fuel costs! [and drink rum :freaky]

If you've got the hook-up in Serbia, come on down to Serres in late October...

you can still combine sea-side holidays at that time of year here in Greece

I am now at 95% committed to doing it... first shakedown of my new (used) 520 exc
    will be tomorrow morning
