I work in Sylacauga just on the end of 148. The skyway is at the top of Bull Gap. Look for the small trail that is next to the well maintained forestry service road. This road is loads of fun. Several good outlooks and places to camp. Hit me up if anybody decides to tackle it! :jose

This thread is LONG dead but if anyone is still listening, I'd be interested in learning more about this trail/road. There have got to be some good Adventure rides in this backwards state full of rednecks where nobody wears shoes or has teeth! Right?

Couldn't find anything on this section. The official website talks about a "Mississippi Hill Country" section. Nothing anywhere else about the trail going through part of N.Alabama.

Skyway Motorway starts off of Hwy 148 East of Sylacauga, the first section is FS 600-1, approximately 16 miles to Hwy 77, right then immediate left, turn left at the church across the tracks and bridge straight ahead onto FS 600-2. This part is about 10 miles and becomes paved Al 281 straight ahead to Cheaha State Park, continue on 281 to its terminous look to the right onto FS500, continue North, cross Rabbit Town Rd. .........come down on Duggar Mtn Rd, turn left go to Piedmont, and you passed a lot of dirt in between

I know this is dead, but I ride this road weekly and have found others like it. I did a ride yesterday from Sylacauga to Mt. Cheaha with maybe only 3-4 miles of paved road used. If anyone wants to get together and ride I'd be happy to show ya around these parts.

    P.S.
I live about 2 miles from Hollins WMA/Talladega Natal Forrest and ride it every chance I get. Been doing so for the last 13 years.

Love that ride too. If I remember correctly it is about 80 miles round trip from the trailhead to the park round trip. We usually eat lunch at the restaurant before the ride back. We have also camped at the old fire tower as well.

I ride every chance I get. Send me a PM when you might be able to go and if I'm off we can do one of my "loops". I'll more than likely ride Sunday too if it doesn't rain.
