Does anyone have any PDF or other nonGPS files of main roads and backroads of Vancouver Island they'd like to share? Specifically Campbell River to Gold River and north (about the middle of the island) that I can print out? TOPO maps that show primary (hwy 28 and 19) and secondary roads would be optimal or actual old school road maps that could be scanned. Most of the free stuff online uses google maps or similar which is difficult to capture and print. Ordered an older version of Backroads but something on my hard drive would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

It does...thanks. I've bought an older topo map of the area and have both a road and topo GPS to keep me on track (and an old fashioned compass). Looks like there are two roads out of Goldriver that I can take north to loop back to Campbell river on the highway. Figure I will camp along the coast just west of GR then someplace north of town before heading back to Campbell River. Need to be back in town by 3 to make the ferries back to Cortes so I want to be within two or three hours of the ferry with enough time to do some grocery shopping and pick up some booze. Two nights should be perfect.

If anyone wants to join me, let me know. I'm thinking sometime in the last week of June.
