    as title says
Im looking at a very low hour 2011 sherco 2.9
    https://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2011-sherco-trialscc/6580446250.html

Ive read as much as I can find but there is little out there.
looks like the carb, airbox, fuel tank are not loved

should one stay away from this model year or are they decent bikes?

    also looking at this bike
    https://siouxfalls.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2017-gas-gas-250-contact/6537773667.html

Im a trials noob but a decent B enduro rider
is one a significantly better decision than the other?

    any info much appreciated

The Sherco is great being new. But that is an oddball exhaust for a spark arrestor. The contact is the eco model. Not a good price concidering what it is.

The mount on the middle of the bike going to the head flexes alot. There is no steering stop. The fuel pump is a pia.

FWIW - for the $5k price range, you can buy a 2016 bike in excellent shape. Of course, everyone is looking/buying right now so availability goes down.

I did GasGas many years, with a string of used and newer bikes. I got away from Sherco, then went back.

Knowing what I know now, I prefer Sherco in used bikes, particularly those in pretty cherry shape like that '11. I also prefer the 250 and 272cc (2.9) engine sizes.

Good handling, right power, and reliable in their cores are the Shercos. Yes, there are quirks to all trials bikes, but they are easy to deal with, especially when tapped into this forum!

I have no experience with the Sherco but I recall seeing broken radiators due to the lack of steering stops back about that time.
The Gas Gas has seriously downgraded suspension components and a tube type rear wheel, they also came with cheap tires. If Trials competition is your intent I'd buy a real Trials model.

I love GasGas, but not the Contact. Avoid.
