Hey man, we we're all hoping that bruising didn't indicate something more severe. Sorry to hear about that, Gilla. We'll charge up some good Karma for your fast recovery.

    Bummer dude!

Do what the docs and therapists say, you'll be back in the saddle sooner than you think. Watch the narcotic pills they give you. I did much better with an NSAID (naproxin in my case) to manage the pain. Ice is your friend, learn to love it.

Thanks. The Doc was baffled I was even walking at all. So, apparently, like last time, I didn't do it half assed.

Whatever. I'm just pissed at the first doctor for misdiagnosing me, since after seeing the x-ray myself I saw what I did and it is pretty obvious.

Stoked to find this thread. Just moved to Napa County this September. Have a KTM950 and XR600 and have the occasional weekend day open for a ride. Moved here from Portland 1.5 years ago and have not met too many ADV'ers in the North Bay. Would be excellent to meet some locals. Happy New Year! :freaky

    Hey Brauhausbier
Good to hear from you. There are a group of us here in Sonoma county that go on 200+ mile rides a few times a month. You just missed our annual New Years Day ride. Up pope valley, butts canyon road to Middletown, Cobb Mountain over to Hopland Grade, out on Dry Creek Road to Tin Barn Road into Guernville then home 310 miles in all. We are always looking for new riders. We usually travel in twos or threes but new year there were 7 of us, 4 1200GS 1 700GS and two vstroms. PM me if you're interested in riding along

Welcome! The Mendo Rally happens the first weekend of May at Lake Pillsbury in Mendocino National Forest and is a great way to meet local dual sport riders. The rally is held at a spacious wooded lakeside campground with a 50 person maximum; delicious homemade BBQ and local draught beer are included. Look for the thread to start in the West subforum in a month or so. Hope to see you there. :freaky

Thanks so much GP! Sorry to miss the New Years ride, but I can't complain about this winter weather at all here in the Bay area in Jan. Better than June in Oregon! Cheers!

Thanks for the head's up! The weather is too nice here this winter and hope to meet some NB riders for some rides this winter/spring. I have an insane schedule through end of May and doubt I'll have anytime for a campout, but who knows? Cheers!:freaky

Key on - No power to anything?

My good friend Scott recently passed away after a long and valiant fight with Prostate Cancer and has gifted me his immaculate 2008 Suzuki DL650. I rode her 20 miles to my home in Windsor Saturday and on Monday went to start her up and got no power to anything when key was turned to the On position.

Assumed the battery was bad as my friend had been unable to ride for some time due to his illness so drove to Interstate and bought a brand new battery. Charged bat overnight on my Ctek Multi 4.3 charger and just got through hooking new bat up to find no power once again [IMG]. Have checked main 30amp fuse for continuity and it's good.

Anyone live in the area and is intimately familiar with the DL650 that might be willing to stop by and take a look? I'm in no big hurry as I haven't gotten Ins yet so wont be riding her for a little while.

Ever heard that saying, "Blind in one eye, can't see out the other"?

The main Negative Ground wire had slipped over underneath the R/S plastic body side panel where I didn't notice it :rolleyes.

I'm possibly plotting out a day ride for Tuesday, Nov 11 (Veterans Day).

It would be all day. Departing from Santa Rosa area in the morning, and be home late afternoon/early eve. Street ride.

    Possibly:
    101 up to Ukiah
Orr Springs Rd to Ft Bragg
    Food / Break
    Hwy 20 E
Checking out camping facilities in Jackson Demonstration Forest
    Willits / Ridgewood Rd
    Bear Canyon Rd
    Tomki Rd
    Redwood Valley
    Hwy 101 S
OR :deal IF WE HAVE TIME
Hwy 253 West > Mtn View Rd > Hwy 1
    Occidental

Again, still all up in the air. Depends on weather

I'd be on my DR800, Capt. Huggie on a 12GS

If anyone chimes in, I can update as time goes along. Route is NOT set in stone. But, I dont expect it to be dirt ride.

Huggie is also looking for a local rider he can pair up with. He's a retired fire Capt, and enjoys week-day rides locally. and camp trips wherever. Nothing crazy. Just simple helmet time.
