I might be doing the boogie but there are actually a few options for that week so I'll have to see and decide.

Just swung by the vintage bike show in Oxford Station, a very cool assortment of bikes :nod

Heading back in a bit for lunch, well worth the drop in if your looking for somewhere to ride to.

Sunday afternoon I decided to look after some minor maintenance, just tinker with the bikes a bit look them over for anything then get out for a little ride. I should have stayed in bed, today, this day above any others I am an idiot.

Task 1 - Replace rear brakes on big bike. No problems easy operation and it goes off like clock work. Deft and efficient movement, I clearly know what I'm doing, like a trained heart surgeon. Everything back together, just need to confirm torque specs for the lug nuts and caliper bolts. All my smugness bounces off the floor with the caliper bolt head which has fallen off the torx socket head. WTF, 30 ft lbs, ..right....WRONG ASS LIPS, thats 30NM or about 22 ft lbs. IDIOT!! Ok I can recover. Take the tire off again, remove the disk so I can get the caliper off with the broken off bolt just sticking out. LUCKY is comes out with a easy twist of the pliers. I'll order some new bolts, file away the lessons learned: 30NM not ft lbs and read shit through before I start twisting my nuts: Check.

Task 2 - Adjust the chain on the small bike and give it a look over, then scoot out for a little ride, it'll make me feel better after breaking my other bike. Ok chain adjustment, careful to get both sides adjusted the same taking out a little slack, perrrfect! Gear up, fire up the bike, kick into gear and it stalls...huh? Ah I know, I must have moved the magnet for the kick stand sensor when I threw the bike on the stand, yup. Ok easy fix... aaaand done. (Smugness returning, I know my shit right? right!?) Ready to roll, hop on and ride out of the garage. Hmm weird feeling from the rear, did I fuck up the chain adjustment so much and put it out of alignment...no way. Return to garage and inspect rear tire and see a shiney torx head socket sticking out of the tire. :becca

I push that bike over with the other broken bike and with a little tick in the corner of my eye that grows with the dwindling hiss of air escaping my quickly deflating tire I tentatively look towards wifey's bike...but no, nooo nooo no!. It's time to call it, I'm an idiot and it's time to have a beer and contemplate whether I can trust myself to safely close the garage doors or if I should call my wife to do it.

Ever have one of those days?:huh

I was having a moment, ranting about clearing out the garage wanting it to be germanesque with nothing on the floors, sterile gleaming with floor I could eat off and tool outlines for every tool right down to those pin thin useless allen keys that end up in the bottom of your tool box. She sighed, closed the doors and turned off the lights while I was mid rant and still in the garage. It was for the best as I was cut short trying to figure out how to navigate the garage and get out alive. Mrs CdnX, she really looks after me. :lol3
