Being an older, now single guy with an adventure bike addiction, I find it very difficult to meet females with similar interests. Living in Northwestern NC I don't know one female that is into this. Nor do I meet any in my travels.

Where does one find this creature?

Is there a way to connect to these rare breads?

Unicorns are much faster than motorcycles, so you just can't catch them - even if you are lucky enough to spot one out on the road....

I would think that there are plenty out there. Attend rides organized by your local dealer, attend motorcycle events in your area, etc. Try Facebook - search for "Female Motorcyclists", and so on. I'm married, so I've never tried (no... really!), but I've seen lot's of women on bikes around this area. Another spot would be popular weekend breakfast/lunch restaurants that riders frequent.

Tried the club thing. Chartered 2 and was VP of one. I am a Sigma INTJ. Not my thing I guess. Ride alone mostly. I am friends with my local HD dealer and hang there now and then. Just finding one that rides off road on her own bike has been the tough thing.

It has been my experience that single female riders are more rare in the cruiser scene than the adventure bike hobby. Most seem to be married or otherwise comitted.

At a recent advrider rally there were 2 or 3 single ladies. I would suggest attend some of those, rather than a club, because each event has a new batch of people. They are not really singles scenes, though, so don't go hoping to pick up on women. Go to have a fun time riding, and you might meet a lady doing the same.

The other place you might find female riders is at the local hang outs. Are there cafes near the Blue Ridge Parkway where riders often stop for lunch. If you see a female rider, my wife says you should compliment her bike instead of asking for her number straight away. (Thinking of her as a fellow rider in her own right, rather than simply a potential mate.)

The other way to find the elusive unicorn is to meet one before anyone has identified her as such. This is how I stumbled upon mine. She rode her cousin's dirt bike as a kid, so riding was not foreign to her. However, she did not own one when I met her (neither did I, for that matter). I could tell she was adventuresome, though. We met on mountain bike singletrack. On one of our first "dates", she lauched her bicycle off a half pipe and landed on her head. I knew then that she was the one for me. :lol3 After we were married, we had a motorcycle and rode 2-up. She got tired of that, and took the rider course, got her licence, and bought her own bike.

If you do manage to find one, it is then that you will suddenly attract several more. That seems to be the way it works for me.

Well as a single male and over 60 after a 26 yr marriage, I to have been unable to find that beautiful companion. One thing about the rally scene is the woman is most likely from many miles away from your basecamp (home) and hard to make that long distance thing work. I would love to meet someone at one of these rallies that is from my home state. We could meet and ride and get to know each other.

Loving the conversation here - even if I don’t necessarily agree with everything.

Part of me wants to say be careful what you wish for. As a single female rider, and just as I’ve heard many of my married male ADV friends say, there are days (lots of days) that you just want to go out and ride, enjoy your bike and yourself. What their wives deal with, my potential husband will have to deal with - and he may brag about it now but ten years from now will probably be a different story.

I’m in no position to give relationships advice, so here it is: just let it happen.

Can't recall which group it is for, but I do know there has been a women's motorcycle rally in central Colorado for many years. There are a good many female BMW riders in the BMW MOA. Might be a source. Heck one of the contributing editors in the MOA monthly magazine is a lovely (hot really) brunette that rides a mid 90's BMW R1100RS.

I'm just sitting here hoping to find some good tips, yet knowing that lack of tips is not what stands between me and a single woman of the (preferably) motorcycle persuasion. :flush

If you meet her, her friends will hang around too, and you'll find yourself going on rides with 4-5 single female riders...

...at which point, your friends may well decide they just have to kill you :D

Don't ask me how I discovered this...

Ha, ha. I occasionally meet a female when out riding at events. However, 98% of the time they are the wife/girlfriend of another guy there. Or the daughter of one of the guys (and way too young).

I think once I did meet a single attractive female rider. But I'm married anyway, so after chatting I just rode away (thinking I maybe just met a unicorn...)

Coming from a failed marriage with someone who shared my love of MTBees and enduro riding, I have one bit of alternate advice: don't look for a mate that shares your favorite hobby. Yes, it *can* work out, but it can also introduce a whole lot of stress into your "fun". You can also be so excited you found someone that shares your interests that you entirely overlook other personality traits. Traits that can end up ruining your hobby for you.

I am with a wonderful woman now and we share a love for doing many things together - but motorcycling isn't one of them. That's my one spot for stress relief that I can go off and do on my own - and she's happy I have something I love to do. :raabia

This. Great post and life advice. Let life unfold. When you try to steer it you often unwittingly set up your failure.

Think about Elmer Fudd and the Roadrunner. Don't be them.
