its obvious. i am looking for TAT partner/s with similar experince and goals. I am 26 yrs old with very flexible schedule. i have my fair share of off road riding experience/confidence and can do it on my 350 or my 650. i have riding buddies my problem has been findin people with the time, money, and desire to hit the long trail for a month or so and really challenge ourselves. i am by no mean rich so uber- planning and resourcefulness are a way of life. example: i camp whenever possible because i like it more and it cost less. if have to buy food its one expensive meal a day otherwise 5$ worth of value meal or tuna and crackers. hopefully you get the idea. i look forward to any responses. questions are welcomed.

What is your time schedule? I can go early spring and bring nabs and a flask or we can hit a grocery store every other day. AMA pro license and no job= adventure!!!!:freaky

I'll be out there too! Looks like a steady train from late June to September. As we dial in the schedules It'll gel.

I'll be in Trinidad about the 28th of June to head back to Oregon on the scenic route. If anybody around, they are welcome to follow the Orange tide. (KTM 640 ADV likes to run!) :pynd I'd recommend against too big a group, as the dust in Nevada will split you up or choke you out.:knary

Have GPS, Spot, Rollbook, will camp 1/2 to 3/4 of the time... see you on the trail! :wave

    Yes it's still winter, but I'm planning!:mully I want to RIDE!:ricky

I will be hitting the trail mid to late august. Trying to get two weeks after Drill School. Plan is Arkansas to NM, south Shadow of the Rockies to meet my dad in Ruidoso for street riding, GL1800 isn't to good in the dirt, and then maybe Shadow of the Rockies to Denver and then slab it back home. It is all time permitting and mostly camping on the trail for better schedule flexibility. Don't have to cut a day short to motel it. Also carrying about two gallons of fuel on board. Four MSR bottles and budget permitting a rotoplax 1 gal.

    Overprepared! is there such thing!!:rofl

I just don't want to be underprepared!:cry that's where you end up bumming tools and gas and duct tape off everybody that comes by.:becca

No, I'll opt for overkill and preparedness every time... Travel light, have fun, take pictures and try to post a good RR! :thumb Support the TAT, not drag it down!!:rayof

Thanks for sharin' your ADV rides Q~!!:clap

I'm trying to get everything in order to do the tat as early as June. I'll be starting in Tennessee and going all the way through to Oregon. Then Going back home up north so I can see Yellowstone at least, and maybe some of Canada. I'm completely flexible as to when I do the trip, but want to start in July at the latest. I'm really hoping to find someone to ride with though.

I've posted the tracks and routes for the Non-TAT portions of the Mobius trip, but included ALL the waypoints including hotels, gas, bike shops, campgrounds, etc. which you may find helpful for your TAT planning.

You can figure out what sections you want to check out from the index post here, and download the files from this thread here.

We rode M-1 back in May '08, so please confirm for yourselves that motels haven't gone out of business, and gas and tires are still available.

myself and two buddies will be hitting the eastern section from TN to OK in early April. Probably going to ride for about two weeks, try and camp as often as we're comfortable doing and eat on the cheap whenever possible. We will be on a KLR(me and its FAR from stock), XR and DR. all of us are 24 and "experienced" riders.

Out of curiosity, since I haven't found an answer anywhere else, what is the best time to do the TAT? June or July? Or is August or September better?

Maybe the end of May you might make it thru the mountains here but more likely not. Sometimes they are open in early June.
