Here's the E60. It sounds better in person when you can hear both sides at the same time.

That's a test plan, not data. What we need is a data that show engine performance and efficiency vs tail pipe aperture sound levels so we can tell if loud pipes save lap time or loud pipes save gas.
Where do I get one?
Aren't too many racing classes of anything motorized that use stock pipes. You think maybe the race teams might be on to something?
GREAT Vendor/guy. I've been buying stuff from PJ for about 8 years now.
jeez, you guys learned to argue from sarah palin or what?
we are talking about any bikes although especially harleys making excessive noise in the everyday streets and favorite twisties roads costing access rights to every other motorcyclists when the citizens gets sick of the noise passing at every 20 seconds, and you are at the front with an argument that applies to less than 1% of motorcyclists population that gives a shit about race bikes on race tracks...
you have enough of 60HP for ANYTHING ANYWHERE that isn`t a track. so muffle it.
Said the guy that rides a girls bike.
thanks for confirming that we are dealing with IQ<70, although we were pretty sure already.
X 2 , Nancy.
So, I had an experience that I like to post when I come across these "loud pipes..." threads:
I put a muffler on my first bike, which was the standard fare for such things: huge outlet, straight flow, no baffles, and so on. It was quite loud. Shortly after, I was riding with a friend, and I see him suddenly pull over ahead of me. I do the same to see what is up.
So I put on my right directional and check my mirror* for traffic behind me, at which point I see a flash of lights, and an ambulance with full sirens goes blaring by. I never heard it at all. So, my loud pipe could then have, potentially, literally not saved life.
*I should point out, the mirrors on the bike were of sportbike disposition, such that they usually showed me my elbows unless I thought to pull my arms in when checking them.
We all ready have dumb. Now its deaf and blind. Hope you don't get all three in one!

LPSL?? Then Tape Down Your Horn Button Too....
"So, did you add a sweet custom horn to make your bike louder too?"
"What if I had a quiet bike with a really loud stereo instead? Wait, you already have a loud stereo...."
"Nice, I can't wait to see if Volvo adopts loud exhausts in the near future"
"You must think a Prius is deadly then... Quiet, but deadly"
"Does anybody sell loud aftermarket exhausts for the Prius?"
"Have you thought of any ways to make a bicycle louder?"
The phrase "you, sir, are an asshole" works fairly well.
Kids put cards in the spokes of their bicycles. Probably for the same reason that most fags put loud pipes on their motorcycles. "HEY LOOK AT ME!!!" YMMV.
And much to the chagrin of those who wish the abusive noise makers would all just spontaneously die, there are safetycrats who are busy working on this huge "problem" whereby careless pedestrians who don't look where they're fucking going are being run over by electric vehicles. The solution: ADD ARTIFICIAL NOISE! Yeah, can't make this shit up.
No baffles, straight flow, huge outlet. So... not to be a nit-picker or anything, but how exactly is that a "muffler"??
"I'm new to this whole motorcycling thing. Do the loud pipes save lives because they are on slow motorcycles, or because they alert other drivers.....?"
"How does the chrome play into your safety strategy? Like a giant reflector? Those bikes are like a Swiss Army knife of safety. Thank you for opening my eyes...."
"And if you save only one life, it will all have been worth it."
"As far as the need for safety goes, shouldn't mopeds have the loudest of the pipes? Especially since a lot of them have DUI's?"
Solid point It had a perforated tube with exhaust packing material, like it would, just no "hairpins" for the exhaust gasses to slalom through, slow and cool them to reduce noise. Like a (useless) firearm suppressor, not a sink's muck trap.
And now I find out after all this time I been doin it wrong.
Dammit. She eats a lot too.
