I think this is the right thread....spending some time in Erath (just south of Lafayette) visiting the wife's family and brought the bike (Husky FE450) with me. Can anyone give me some advice on some good riding areas nearby? Went to Camp Clairborne OHV near Forest Hill today and wasn't overly impressed...looking for flowey two track/singletrack.

North of Alexandria, LA on I49, exit the Cloutierville Exit, head back west. Note the ridge that runs north/south. The first hard top road you get to on the right (on the north side of the road), turn here. It is a chipseal road last time I was there. Head down this road a few miles and note the pull offs to the left. All of these connect to double track.

There's all sorts of good riding at Forest Hill. The single track is south of Hwy 112. You can get loster-rer as shit there.

Anyone feel like meeting up this Friday and doing some riding? Not a noob and can turn it up with the right crowd. Looking to meet some new riders and places to ride. Will prob be moving to Erath in 4 years when I retire from the military.

So when is this St. Francisville area ride now going to take place? I am free all this week but figured New Year's Eve (Saturday) might be good. The ol' DR350 needs to stretch her legs again.

The weather's been pretty uggh this week around BR.

Now I'm up in Arkansas for a family funeral, prob be back on Friday late, but then we have Christmas for the other side of the family Sat or Sunday. I would like to get a ride in before I have to get back to reality.

I'm off this weekend and looking to ride. The closer to Slidell the better. But, traveling to St. Francisville isn't out of the question.

The weather is looking perfect today and Friday but my weather app says 90% rain Saturday.
If I didn't have a shit load of home repairs going on and work tugging at me, I'd be all over getting some seat time before the rains.
My boss keeps expecting me to work (even on sunny days - LOL) why can't they just send me a check and leave me the hell alone? I envy you retired dudes!

I have ridden most everyday lately, my loop is about 70 miles, maybe 75% gravel... nothing exciting....but it all I have locally to ride. ;-)
I am up for a St.Francisville ride when ever it can be arranged.
attached is a picture of my XR650 L, it just had a much needed bath.

If anyone wants to ride tomorrow, I'll be riding some ST at Camp Clairborne around 10ish and parking on one of the roads near the Boy Scout camp. I'll be on a Husky FE450.

Is that in the Kisatchie area ? I'd love to ride that area, but it's 5 hours away. Is it open year round ? I'll be camping up there last weekend in March. Would be nice to ride with someone.

Think so......don't know. My wife's family is from Erath and I'm exploring the riding opportunities. All I can tell you is that it's in Forest Hill, LA off Boy Scout Rd. Look at Rider-Planet.com and it'll give you an idea of how to find it, or just google Boy Scout RD in FH and you'll see it.

50% chance of rain by 8am Saturday and I don't suppose there would be many people interested in a cold rain ride. However, if anyone in the Baton Rouge are fancies a short run this afternoon, let me know asap.

Either way, St. Francisville or tooling around with the Weave, if the weather's good, I'm looking forward to it.

Either place is good with me too, riding locally with Weave would certainly be easier than me trailing my Honda to St. Francisville.
I bet between Weave and I we know every gravel road in the area.;-)
