Pretty slim turnout tonight even if the weather was good for a ride. A buddy I was meeting showed up after I left!

Are any of you coming to the Renfro Valley ADV ride this weekend?

I am doing a loop tomorrow. Leaves are getting some color around here and the weather is too nice not to knock the dust off the Tenere. Interested?

Thought I was making it out but wife made plans for us tomorrow evening. Hoping to get out Sunday for some serious miles. I need the therapy!

Now that you've had the Multi for a little while I'm curious how you feel about it in relation to your GS. As a former multiple GS and multiple 1st generation Multi owner, I have alterior motoves for asking!

At this point I'm ecstatic I made the change. The GSA was a bit more comfortable, and the wind protection/quiet pocket was much better, but the grin the MS puts on my face every time I twist the throttle or throw it into a corner more than makes up for it. I did put a short shield on it for the summer, and added an MRA extension to the touring shield that I'll put back on for the winter rides. It is strange that it's so hard to manage the wind noise on the MS. But the ride is phenomenal! I took the GSA for a ride in July and it just felt dull after riding the MS. The thing I miss the most about the GSA is the looks, it was one of the coolest looking bikes I've seen.

If I ever move back to an ADV bike, which may not happen, I'd likely move to the KTM over the Beemer. I rode an 1190R in Colorado and was very impressed, but I've yet to ride a standard WC, so maybe the smaller bike and new motor will win me over. But I see myself on a Duc barring any maintenance issues for the foreseeable future, I'll be riding my EXC on any rides where I might find dirt or gravel. If anything I may add a 690 to the stable, it's getting harder to justify the 450 as little woods riding I have been doing.

That makes sense to me. I went from an 1150GS to 2 1st generation Multis back to back, then back to a 1200GS. But I just could not love it like I did my old 1150...plus I'm not fond of the BMW dealer here. I sold it after a year. I always thought the 1200 Multi would be my next bike but the first few years were just too tall for me. The 2015 model without electronic suspension was low enough but when I demoed it back to back with the Super Duke, I ended up going that direction. I'm asking because as I get closer to retiring I'm trying to plan what bike(s) I want in my garage, as I won't be able to trade as often as I have in the past...which has been pretty often!

Right now I have the Super Duke, a 690 Duke (doubt it will go anywhere) and a Tiger 800XCX. I'm toying with giving the Multi another go to eventually replace the SD...and maybe the Tiger. I've been wanting to add a Dual Sport for years as well but my height limits me to the bikes with older technology, which doesn't excite me much. Thanks for the response.

It's funny, Ed knew I wanted an MS but he tried so hard to get me to test ride the Super Duke. I know it's probably more comfortable than it looks, but it still seems like too big of a jump from the dual sport/ADV bikes I've always ridden. But it's not like I plan on taking the MS off-road, so the SD would probably do everything I enjoy about the MS and probably more.

It seems like you like your 690 Duke, would the 690 Enduro fill in the gap you're looking for, or at least replace the Tiger? In theory I'm intrigued, it can likely handle 90% of the off-road riding I'm doing, but also handle the pavement better than my 450. Plus the maintenance intervals would be much more reasonable...

My Cagiva Gran Canyon fills several roles in the stable.

First: it's a glorious hooligan with a Duc 900 motor.

2nd: it's got great townie, commuter manners.

3rd: it's enough with the three hard bags for light touring duty.

4th: roomy enough for light two up duty. It'd do a good 2/3 day trip but not more.

5th: light gravel fire road duty.

    And they are CHEAP.

I bought mine with 10,000 KILOMETERS and a bunch of extras for $3200.

    Something to sleep on anyways.

And Ed is always trying to talk me into a Multi! The SD is in fact very comfortable. I've done several long days on it.

The only reason a 690 Enduro is not in my garage is that I have a 29" inseam...I can barely tiptoe on the Duke. I don't mind dabbing the ground but the KTM dual sports are a bit to much for me without some significant lowering. Actually I enjoy all the bikes I have right now, including the Tiger, but 3 is the limit I have room for, so I'm just trying to make sure I have the right 3 to hold on to for a while. Thanks for the input...hope to get one of them out for a while today.

    The Cagiva's are cool!

Anyone hitting bike night tomorrow? I've got a lot of other things I should be doing, but weather looks great and it's been awhile since I've made it.

I had not been in a while either. Got there at 7:00 tonight and it was pretty lonely. By 8:00, lots of bikes there. Left by 9:00. Took the long twisty way home through the Parklands. Not many nights left.

Well, hell, I was there on the Black Tiger XRx and sitting at the table up near the bar with 3 other guys. Wish I had known to look for the ADV gang.
I wasn't going originally but they let me off work early so I blasted over. Nice nite for a ride!
