In reply to some of your questions on how I am feeling from a mum's point of view, at first I was nervous & anxious at the big challenge ahead, but as the days pass & seeing him progress through the challenges the nerves are subsiding and the excitement is buzzing I am totally hooked and can' t wait to check in for another update.:clap:clap:clap

That slow mo was freaking sweet! Better still - I could read what his shock preload was - time to go to the garage and dial it in!

Wouldn't we all wish that for him,,,

Just finishing IMHO is a major accomplishment,,hell,,just getting there is another major accomplishment...

and coming back in one piece and being able to share has always been the tale of the hero,,,

and being able to share while the race is going on,,hell that's gotta be the tale of the modern hero...

    IMHO of course

Thanks again PM for those calls from Pyndon. These are my only available link here in the land of the lost.
Hearing his enthusiasm in his voice is so cool. Really we could get a Rally video review at the end.

    Thanks again and Go Pundon!

Yknow, I wouldn't be half surprised if these call-ins he's so kindly doing for us all are also helping him too. Ten minutes just to sit down and talk to someone who'll listen about the ups ands down of your day, even if its to an answering machine, can go a long way towards making some sense in your head of whats going on and how you're feeling. I know a lot of servicemen find this to be the case.

In any case, they sure are appreciated at the listeners end :)

    RIP....

    Stage 7 - Special release

Death of the rider Thomas Bourgin

Motorcycle rider no. 106 Thomas Bourgin (FRA) was the victim of a fatal traffic accident on the link route as he made his way to the start of the day's special stage.

The accident took place at 08.23 hours local time on the link route on the way up to the Chilean side of the mountain range. The 25-year-old rider collided with a Chilean police car that was travelling in the opposite direction. The exact circumstances of the accident are being subjected to an inquiry.

The rally's medical teams deployed on the ground were only able to certify the rider's death, probably instant.

Thomas Bourgin, from Saint Etienne, where he was born on December 23rd 1987, was in 68th place in the overall ranking of his first Dakar. He had realised his passion since 2009 when he took part in the Morocco Rally, followed by a 4th place in the 2011 Africa Race and a 7th place finish in the Tunisia Rally.

The organisers of the Dakar and everyone involved in it express their great sadness to his family and friends and offer their most sincere condolences.

Spirited audio blog from Michael Guy of MCN from stage 6 yesterday. Good stuff.
Lyndon featured at 2:45. Also Si Pavey, suffering Craig Bounds and other Brits to be heard.
