Yeah, isn't it amazing !
I still can't believe it!!! Breaking the top 10. That's simply amazing Pyn. Hope the rest day does you well and we'll watch you crossing the finish line in Pyn style.
Just looking at the start list for stage 9 this morning at 10.00gmt-3.I can never recall feeling so good before the start of a stage in the Dakar.I get the feeling this 9th stage is really set up for Lyndon. The way he prepares himself and his bike the attention to detail, the ability to think and adjust whilst driving and his masterly reading of the stage in real time show him to be a natural.Folks He truely belongs out there in that starting position. If all possible factors combine to give him the best launch platform then he only has Barreda and Casteu in front of him and Rodrigues and Despres behind him to worry about.Man I enjoyed writing that.Thank you Lyndon for giving me this gift. Now you go and enjoy yourself.
Best Wishes Dave
Thanks for the excellent call in broadcast (again) Nate........ And Pyn.
Man that gave me goosebumps!
Definitely caught them well, I heard them
Thought I'd share this with you all, I'm set for another day.
It really isn't as cold as I seem to make it look here in Yorkshire!! but it is snowing
Owen you are a star for the support ..........and importantly the reporting
Pyn you are an inspiration and make us proud
Absolutely stunning job!!!
Hang in there and keep focused old bean!
Morning! Nice kit.
Looks like Lyndon is strong again today. He's pacing a whole new group.
Yup solid start through the first 2 CP's - rest day has done you good Pyn
Was meant to snow here in BC last night but didn't where I am.......trying to think of a reason not to go to work and just sit behind the computer with a coffee......
Top effort Pyn!
Erm, what are the overall standings at now? (Bugger me I hate the dakar website - built by high-school students...)
Just thinking about how the altitude affected Pyn the other day...I spotted Ceci last year at the Passo San Francisco Chilean Aduana sucking on Oxygen. This was around 12000ft having spent quite a bit of time around 15000ft, depending on the exact route this time of course, but they will be above 13000 for well over an hour. Could he beg some from somewhere or try a sports shop in Cordoba and get it to the bivi tonight? After that there's not much chance.
ey up mooky how's it hanging??
he's 36th at waypoint 7
Way to go Lyndon !!
He is having a good run today. As of now he is 22nd on wp8. If he keeps the pace he could be top 20 today. Impressive stuff
Way to ride Pyn!!! GO cat GO!
Top 40 is more realistic. He's having a great ride but many who started the day behind him are faster on the road. He's just through WP9, 15th on the road but more like 38th/39th on the day.
He seems to be pacing in the 30's. That is a whole new group of riders. If he can stay with them and not suffer many miscues, he'll have a whopping Dakar.
There is still a lot of attrition to come...
