I ate at my desk in a windowless building. It's 95 outside and feels like a pizza oven. I know because I just finished supervising loading the truck. aka helping.:lol3
Engineers, we're always in the way. :rofl

Maybe blow off my evening run and go sit at the new Italian place and daydream about riding my bike in a couple of weeks.
    Good luck on your ride.
Take too many pictures linger just a little too long and meet some amazing people.
And stories we need lots of stories. Plus, never, ever change that avatar:clap

My new Klim Badlands pants arrived today, but even the largest they make are too small... I'm probably going to just wear my old Motoport suit, since it fits and can be layered underneath with no trouble...

I was wondering just how bad the traffic is in the LA area coming up from San Diego. Probably be coming up that route in a few weeks. Been about 45 years since I've been in that part of California.
Will be following yur trip, Main thing >>>> Have Fun and don't rush it.

LA traffic really depends on time of day.
During the week expect gridlock conditions during rush hour

    6am-10am
    3pm-7pm

More or less, also the route, if you are going around LA then I would take the 15-210-5 route which goes around LA instead of through it.

Traffic is worse on holiday weekends and Fridays in general, and direction of travel also makes a difference.

So expect traffic, end of story.

:stupid He could have just said, "Expect traffic. Always." :lol3

If you don't have to ride through LA, don't. Ever.

Well, I'll share my experience from earlier this week, traveling to LA to apply for my passport, then again to pick it up...

Tuesday morning, I had an appointment at 9:30 at the federal building on Wilshire, just off of the 405, in Los Angeles. I figured if I left by 8 am, I'd get there in plenty of time. As soon as I got onto I-5 heading north out of San Clemente, the traffic notification on my gps went red and said the delay was 1:52... I laughed, thinking it was an accident and by the time I got up there it would be cleared. This trip, by the way, was 77 miles each way.

On the way up, traffic was heavy, but was moving along pretty well. I was in the car pool lane and lane splitting when necessary. After I got past Long Beach, traffic was nearly stopped. I thought I'd found the area where the accident was, but was wrong... Traffic stayed like this until I got to the Wilshire exit. I was able to lane split, but with traffic crawling along, it was still slow... I arrived at the federal building at 9:45, and luckily was still able to go to my appointment.

On Thursday, I rode up to pick up my passport, leaving at 1pm. I arrived at the federal building at 2:10, with no real traffic issues, just normal. On the way home, the GPS traffic again warned of a 1:32 delay and traffic was slow all the way through Long Beach on the 405 coming south. Lane splitting and car pool lanes are your friends.

Like the others have said, if you can avoid LA, do so... If not, be patient, and ride with your head on a swivel. The cagers are not looking for you, they are too busy texting and crap...

work, who said I have a job...? :lol3

I've been unemployed since February, and since I'm not getting any younger, decided to retire instead of looking for another position right away. I'll look for another job when I run out of money... :freaky
