OSD? I don't recognize that acronym. This place does have outside dining, but I probably won't sit out there in the rain.

Old Sugar Distillery. Home of the sweet nectar that is the honey liquore. And within walking distance of my house.

I stand corrected. I foolishly require protective gear while while doing that type of riding. We shall call you TOUGH MUDDER instead of Tough Mudder (tm). BTW, where/when is that?

I'm wearing gear. Helmet, goggles, boots, gloves... :ksteve

That was almost two years ago, somewhere off the Clark County trail system by Neillsville. I think it was a play area for quads, but the place was pretty much a swamp so we had it all to ourselves.

Latest weather report shows a 15% chance that it won't be raining at 6:00. Who's coming?

I'm out. Sorry. Gnarlley allergies or something the last day or so. I feel like cutting my head off, and don't want to subject you all to my coughing and wheezing and hawking up leugies (sp?) Next time, hopefully.

I probably will not be there (been sick all week, rain, etc...) but I do have a KLR.

Unfortunately, I have not yet "done the doo", as they say.

I see that you (like me) have an '08+ KLR.

The good news is that Kawi redesigned the "doo" itself and catastrophic failure is not likely (as was the case in '07 and earlier KLRs).

The bad news is that the spring is still too weak and doesn't have enough adjustment in it, so the prevailing opinion is that you really want to replace it with the torsion spring before adjustment is gone.

Lots of info online, let me know if you need links.

And if you're in there, you might as well replace the "doo" as well, since after-market (Eagle-Mike) is much more robust.

I've hesitated because pulling the side-case and rotor is maybe at the limit of my comfort, and also because you have to drill a hole in the case for the end of the torsion spring to engage, even more outside my personal comfort.

I've been hoping to eventually make a tech day somewhere and take care of it... Hasn't happened yet.

I also have a valve adjustment to do sometime in the next few thousand miles... So a tech day seems like a GREAT idea.

ps - Snowjob, if you're gonna page me, include a "waitress with beer" attachment.. :lol3

I seem to be in the same boat as you. I did get the Eaglemike kit so I have the rotar-puller and everything but am hesitant due to my limited mechanical skills (Snowjob has seen my fine soldering :lol3 ). I have been thinking about the valve adjustment also but that really scares me! :eek1 Let me know if you would like to try these out together or you are heading to a tech day (it would be nice to do these with someone who knows what they are doing).

Dave, are you going to be at Claddagh no matter what?

Yep, still planning on going. Instead of a MnG, perhaps Tim and I will do some TM training. Or we can drink beer in the garage and put the YZ back together.

Speaking of....I don't know if anyone else is hooked on that stuff, but I just bought another bottle and it was $8 cheaper at the liquor store than it was buying it right from Old Sugar. Now why would that be? :hmmmmm

What? My bottle is good for at least five years unless we actually do a MnG at my place.

Jobby, you obviously haven't tried this yet then. Stolen from their website:

    Honey-Cap Recipe:

Mix equal parts honey and fresh lime juice. Pour about 1.5 ounces of this in glass. Muddle (smash) about 4 lime slices in it. Pour in 2 ounces of honey liqueur. Add some ice. Top with about 2 ounces of club soda or sparkling water. Flip once into a fresh glass to mix and to get lime on top.
