We have just completed a tour of Southern BC in a small pickup based RV. What a trip! Alot of the bikes we saw were running main beam lights. Is that normal? We didn't drive at night so I don't know if people use mains at night too when other traffic is about? In the UK cars will flash you for blinding them if you run on mains when driving towards them which is understandable as it can leave you momentarily dazzled even in bright sunlight.
What do you do? Cheers, At :thumb

a lot of the time the "dip" beam or low beam will look like a "main" beam or high beam on a bike because of the way the rider has his/her suspension set or how much "stuff" is loaded on the back of the bike, tilting the bike upward and sending the beam into the eyes of oncoming drivers. I've noticed this of many bikes as well as my own. I've been flashed quite a few times lately during the day with just my low beam on. It's hard to adjust it correctly...

It's pretty common here to run your high beams during the day on bikes, for extra conspicuity.

When we moved to daytime running lights on cars, the bikes sort of "disappeared", so a lot of people decided to up the ante.

I guess that makes sense especially on some of those 5k long straights :thumb

Uh, that might have been me you saw :D My low beam burned out somewhere on the Cassiar so I was running high beam for quite a while on the way back to Seattle (including through some evening thunderstorms).
