They have these because Calif. dogs are special enough that they will not pee on a regular one.

Many thanks to @Poacher Bob for the unintended ride excuse.

@justdrew , Google "Lyndonville Air Force base." I had planned on waiting on next summer to take the boy on a field trip, but Sundays weather was just too good to pass up.

What an awesome little trip! We took off at 07:30 and got home 12 hours and 360 miles later. 20170924_135210.jpg 20170924_135022.jpg 20170924_130751.jpg 20170924_152705.jpg

Hey Mainuhs, I am going to ride the Sunrise Downeast Trail and nearby ATV trails this weekend. I haven't been in that part of Maine for several years now. Any suggestions or tips for a guy from away, piloting a Japanese thumper on quad trails in Eastern Maine? Am registered both as ATV and roadbike. Will be eating plenty of pie at Helen's. That's one thing I've never forgotten about Machias.

I think my trail riding days are past as well. To me, the 1190/1090 is just an SE with more tupperware and electronics to fail. Oh, and a few more CCs if you're into that sort of thing.

most atv trails off the sunrise are not ok for bikes until you get out past machias, after machias head for the Rocky Lake area the atv trails in that area are ok for bikes.
I personally have never ridden the Sunrise Trail but comments I read say the scenery is nice but it is a rail bed....

another question- are you registered as an atv in Maine or NH? you will need Maine reg...

I rode the rail bed years ago, and enjoyed it. The Ellsworth end is the busiest, but riding across the Schoodic Bog is cool. The north eastern section past Machias is nice, and has a remote feel to it.

I think the 1090 would be MUCH more conducive to road work than the 950SE. That said I have only been on either less than 20 miles.

    You want intrusive electronics ......

(I'll do what I can go counter the dumbing down factor)

I'm curious, its the trail open to all wheeled vehicles or just atvs/motorcycles?

You see bicycles, but I assume you mean cars/trucks, and they're not allowed.

I appreciate the tip. I've been reading the maps are was already very interested in the Rocky Lake area. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Registered for public roads with an NH license plate. ATV registration however is 100% State of Maine, non-resident. Purchased at the Lebanon, Maine Municipal Offices just today. I figure that ought to keep me in good graces Downeast, as long as I stay on public roads or ATV trails marked with the GREEN ATV trail signs. I understand the RED ones, (like nearly all the ones close by in SW Maine) do not allow 2-wheelers.
