Even my warmest gloves did let my fingers last more than 15 minutes with the snowblower this morning.... damn that was cold.

24F above from Nobleboro Maine to South Shore was my best. Kept kicking the engine cases to make sure I could feel my toes. -24F is a bit too much.

Exactly what it is here now. Thinking about taking the Tiger to the store this morning just to point out the snowmobiles stayed home. :)

I can manage everything but the feet when moving in cold. Good luck!

I've had great luck with Alpinstar Ridge's. Warmer on the bike than even the felt lined boots I snowshoe with.

I'm a Danish Dane from Denmark who will be flying to Boston for a scientific conference in September and on previous such occasions I have rented a bike and taken a few days extra for riding around. A few years back I was in Seattle and before that in Montreal.
Any thoughts and suggestions you could offer would be appreciated.
Where to rent a bike, places to see, places to avoid, what to bring for the weather, etc. Is Maine the right place to go or should I head straight west from Boston... Etc

Denmark is all farmland. Highest point is 145 meters above sea level. Most dangerous animal is the hedgehog. Culturally ... Well it's Denmark. I.e homogenous Scandinavian culture all through except for what diversity our influx of refugees bring.

All recommendations and suggestions for 2-3 days of exciting experiences in your part of the world will be much appreciated.

It's been a while since I posted. Had been in southern California avoiding the terrible wildfires.
Bought myself $29 each way tickets from LAX to Colorado Springs on Frontier and have been here for a few weeks. Heading back to SoCal and then further south just after the first.

Finally got out for a ride on one of the gorgeous late Dec 65 degree days here.

Rare photo of my riding w/o my helmet.

Best wishes for a joyous and happy 2018,
    ~ MM

How long will you be in the area, and what type of riding do you like?
Maine, NH, Vermont, and Upstate NY all have great riding. Our most dangerous animal here is the white tailed deer. Try to avoid hitting them, or have them run into you. "Eagle Rider" is a system that rents Harley-Davidsons and other sport and touring bikes through dealers. Acadia Park in Maine, the White Mtn area in NH are my favorite recommendations for starters. VT has great gravel roads and trails with spectacular views.

If you only have 2-3 days, I would say a loop from Boston up through Merrideth NH and up through the White Mtn region. Then back down through Vermont. September is probably the best temps, with great riding. Typically either side of 70*f during the days and 40*s to 50*s at night. There are hotels, motels, bed & breakfast, and even resorts along the way.

    Like the Mt Washington Hotel.

If you are looking for something other than a Harley these guys deliver to Boston

I will have to agree with Racer111v a loop up through the white mountains and back down through the Green Mountains would be my first choice.
You could also do a trip up the coast of Maine, lots of traffic along the coast in Sept though.
