Wanted to be a trucker on the way out so I was trying to blend in...

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124246039/" title="20101025 Moab 013 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1146/5124246039_b90c340a5d_b.jpg" width="720" height="480" alt="20101025 Moab 013" /></a>

Traveling across the states I ran into a lot of this. I had to stop and take a picture. It was all just to thrilling.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124852396/" title="20101025 Moab 018 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1400/5124852396_2eb9a15407.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="20101025 Moab 018" /></a>

I drove a lot at night.....took some pictures to keep myself going and keep awake.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124852470/" title="20101025 Moab 008 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1436/5124852470_68b5242212_b.jpg" width="1000" height="665" alt="20101025 Moab 008" /></a>

Once the sun came up on the 2nd day I woke up to this and discovered I had made it.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124246131/" title="20101025 Moab 028 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1328/5124246131_4220dc0436.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="20101025 Moab 028" /></a>

The truck had some issues so once I met up with my uncle in Colorado we unloaded the bikes and took the truck down to a garage to have it looked at.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124852600/" title="20101025 Moab 031 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/5124852600_457107d04d.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="20101025 Moab 031" /></a>

My uncle John(left) had a friend named Gary who was nice enough to let us store the bikes at his place.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124852536/" title="20101025 Moab 040 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1333/5124852536_63707fe4d4.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="20101025 Moab 040" /></a>

After we dropped the truck off to get looked at. We set out to try and find some Elk. My uncle and Gary were dead set on finding these things. Finally after a very dedicated search we found them.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124246197/" title="20101025 Moab 043 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/5124246197_37565367e2.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="20101025 Moab 043" /></a>

Heading over to central city I came across this old run down house. I saw this bike there and thought I should get a little practice in. ELBOWS UP!!

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124246595/" title="20101025 Moab 058 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1082/5124246595_6cce5b0de8.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="20101025 Moab 058" /></a>

A couple days went by and I finally got the truck back. I had a day to myself so I drove around Colorado just following the GPS to "points of interest" I went to the Redrocks and a dinosaur footprint thing. The GPS also took me to a park where I found this sign. Parks in Colorado are no joke.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124852774/" title="20101025 Moab 069 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4056/5124852774_4643940ca2.jpg" width="333" height="500" alt="20101025 Moab 069" /></a>

On the way to meet my uncle for dinner I saw a sign for buffalo bills grave and decided to check that out. On the way I stopped at the mountain over pass to take another picture.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124246659/" title="20101025 Moab 075 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/5124246659_f1b274a392.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="20101025 Moab 075" /></a>

My blue steel look at buffalo Bills grave. With a little art sauce flare thrown in.

    <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/55251182@N04/5124852858/" title="20101025 Moab 090 by xx1staytrue1xx, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1134/5124852858_0689af818a.jpg" width="500" height="334" alt="20101025 Moab 090" /></a>

So I didn't take many pictures today..... Im in Grand Junction. I took my bike out when I got here to ride it around a little bit. It was a good thing I took it out because its not running right haha. It wouldn't shift into second :huh . and then while I was trying to figure out why it wasnt shifting.... It wouldnt stay idling. It was acting like it wasnt getting any gas so I killed the battery trying to start it...... I didn't really want to play the detective game anymore so I found the nearest motor-sports place and dropped it off. Hopefully its something simple :cry . The bike worked fine in NYC. Oh well we will see what happens

The bikes back on the road. I picked it up from the motorsports place this am.... There wasnt anything really wrong with it. I had the shift lever on there to high :becca . It was running into the front sprocket. I did find out that my clutch wasn't holding fluid so I ordered up some parts from chipmunn....and had them overnighted :deal The bill on that Sat morning overnight delivery was nice. Headed out in a few to go pick up a rental for James. I get to see moab in like an hour :D . First time being there. Its been my first time in nearly every state this trip minus Colorado because my uncle lives there. Stay tuned....

We were all whipped today from getting up so early to catch flights. Gino slept on every flight:

Everyone got into Grand Junction at varying times and met up with Tom at the Motel where we hastily put on the front wheels of the bikes and found our gear bags and headed out. We road at an area just out of town that the locals consider the "crappy" place and of course we were in heaven.

Here's Flanny ripping up one of the hills:

For the guys that hadn't ridden the west these hills looked unclimbable but within an hour everyone was just ripping up this stuff. Steep!

We also had our first mechanical; Johns 390 Husaberg wouldn't start. We tore it open and looked for blown fuses and pulled apart wires but couldn't figure out why it just cranked and cranked but wouldn't fire. Someone came up with the idea of jumping the bike anyway so we cut the end off John's battery tender lead and held the bare wires to Flanny's battery and, boom, the bike started right up. The lesson here is bikes with EFI and no kick should have very good batteries.

Back at the motel we had a few hours to kill before Clippers flight landed and we had our first dinner so that time was used to address bike concerns.

Tom installs a new clutch slave:

Note the beers on ground there.

    It's getting darker.

Here Flanny helps John undo all my help. We learned an important lesson - do not trust me to work on your bike after I've had a few beers. I installed Johns damper and basically I over tightened the steering stem, didn't tighten the triple clamps but did tighten the bars with the levers pointing straight down...

    Weather is perfect!

It's no humidity, sunny and 65-70. About as perfect as possible. We just got into Moab and we're going to shower, grab some mexican and then come back and put an update in for today.

So today was our first "real" day in Rabbit Valley outside Grand Junction. Tom and I dreamed up a little surprise when were planning the trip that we thought would be funny since our first day was Halloween. Tom stopped at a thrift store in Denver and bought 10 flamboyant ladies dresses and after everyone was geared up we called the group together and pulled an Oprah, "You get a dress! and you get a dress and YOU get a dress - everyone gets a dress!"

Here's some individuals shots so you'll know who's who for the rest of the report.

Tom spend hours trying on dresses before he settled on this one. As Chris says, "He's so tall and skinny he looks good in any dress."

    James shows some leg.

Christian scored the Husaberg dress for his CR but looks just smashing.

Clipper threw on this little number which was a perfect match to the CRF.

Flanny almost knocked over people trying to get the pink dress - we almost had a cat fight over this one.

Gino's first question was if he could keep the dress.

I went little house on the prairie.

Chris' first comment when he picked out his, "Oh my god - it's Vera Wang!!" sadly it didn't fit...

John is too sexy for his dress, oooh, too sexy for that dress.

Rabbit Valley was just wonderful riding with a variety of terrain.

Christian's tire spun on the rim and we took a minute to straighten it. These aren't remarkable shots except for the fact that we're wearing dresses. At this point we met a couple of local guys and they didn't know quite what to to make of 9 guys on bikes wearing dresses.

Clipper's fanny pack gave him some serious booty.

At night when everyone was looking at photos I heard Christian say, "Oh, man, this photo would have been perfect except I'm wearing a dress!"

John's Husa stopped again and luckily the rocket scientist of the group, Chris, saw that the fuel pump plug had come unplugged. I just like the fact that we're all in dresses.

So that was our first day.

    In dresses.
