Thanks, we like a little gap on there but 1/2 is pushing it, glad ya got it on
Thanks Mike! I can't wait for them to show up and get them on.
The strut finally got to Manracks
Now let's see if Mike can do something with it.
That's good news, Mike!
I just talked with Mike, it won't be long now.
that box you shipped the strut in mike is a masterpiece , i will keep it forever, maybe someday i will post a pic of that thing, anyway new prototype coming at ya,
I am anxious to put them on the bike and try them out. I will get a couple pictures after they are on. Hopefully there will be no shipping involved with proceeding after that..
well we got a few racks out there for the 600R sofar so good, Work in progress Alaska Jeff strikes again
Glad I could help out!
This is serial #001 XR600 Rack
So my ManRacks Softbag Tiedown Hooks just arrived and they look really tidy. So shiny I could brush my teeth in them. A couple thoughts came to mind though, although I've yet to mount them. So I was one of the advocates of the CigarMike Slot, however based on my personal experience with slots (and sluts), I'd think the slot gap could be a tad wider - like maybe 1/8" even. I'm worried I won't be able to reap the benefits of the slot (easy on-off) although I understand your concern about unintentional pass through. Also I thought the early versions had a slight bend off the mounting point. I can add this to mine with my trusty vise. Finally, might I suggest buttonhead 8mm stainless Allen screws (~8mmx20)?
I'll post a pic of my mounted product.
Thanks for the quick shipping. I just ordered them earlier in the week and they're already here.
Hey thats good news , when testing we found out that a flat blade screw driver works the best for more gap. also To bend the angle once its on the bike with the same flat blade just stick it through and rest it on the head then pry out until the angle is right for your bike one side at a time & of course put a rag on the shiny things , Ok as soon as i run out of the current stock of nuts and bolt we can get SS button heads,
August 2, I will be at the Mancamp will cigars and bourbon!
Excellent. Will report on results.
Mike, my bad. I will be there Friday the 3rd.
Again Friday the 3rd. No more changes, I promise. Well at least no more today.
Hey, I wanted to pass along props to ManRacks for quality products that really solve a problem - and look good to boot. I like the way the well-designed rack keeps the bulk of the pressure off the plastic (& ultimately the exhaust & battery box). Plus the design transfers some (not all) of the weight off the flimsy subframe. Lastly, the anchor tie-down traingles (with slit) were the missing link. I was able to womp without the bags flopping up & down. Total success.
Now, if I can get that subframe reinforcement... before I conquer Baja....
Thanks for the props , and taking the time to post a nice set of pics, is it ok to use them on my site, mike
